General Carowinds discussion

LocalYokel thank you for the updates. If you continue this daily you will be forever grateful! Living an hour away from the park I can't drive there everyday but it's bittersweet getting these updates of our beloved T-Road coming down one piece at a time! Thank you once again

Yes that's Max at the 5:05 mark.

^^^ I'll post updates when I can. My excuse for visiting the last two days was to retrieve the hat I lost on Fury 325. Honestly I probably enjoy taking and posting these pics less than y'all enjoy seeing them.

On Sunday Steve said his crew would salvage the parts they're keeping and the demo crews would start next week. There are already several bucket lifts around the coaster.

Okay, that tribute video was the saddest thing I've seen in a while. Then.. as much as I appreciate the updates, seeing the pics of them already removing parts of it just took the cake. So much worse then the ASPCA dying puppy commercials.

Maybe it wouldn't be so sad if I liked water parks and was actually looking forward to the improvements. But in all the years I've been visiting I'm pretty sure I went to that side of the park maybe a whole 3 times, including Sunday just walking through for the scavenger hunt. I get that I am one of the few who feels that way, considering how long the lines are for the water slides and whatnot, but still. I hope it's worth it.

Just got back from visiting tonight to see what they did to TR already.
All the signage is gone now. They took the signs off the top of the lift hill and entrance gate.

This is what the front looks like now.

I wasn't able to get anymore photos as they had some security guards stationed near it so I got spooked. I'll go back tomorrow and get some of the now missing signage on the lift hill area around back of action theater back areas.

P.S I rode hurler a few times.. It just isn't as fun. It's nowhere near as fun

You're welcome.

I am sad to see TR go. :( :( It was my family's favorite coaster in the whole park. We used to ride it non-stop coming back into the station and just sit in the seats perpetually.
Unfortunately for us. Nothing will be able to fill that wooden niche. Hurler isn't the same experience and woodstock is just too small.

My oldest son and I rode Thunder Road twice Sunday and when we hit the brake run on that last ride I almost lost it when I realized this was going to be our last ride together on Thunder Road. Sad to her go, hopefully Carowinds has made the right decision.

As a first season rider of Thunder Road there were only a couple years here and there I did not make it to Carowinds so Sunday brought back a lot of memories.

Although I could not stay any longer Sunday I did in fact get to ride my last ride with my Son. All the memories of the years me, my son and daughter spent at Carowinds came back to me as we hit that final brake run. He may have been in the seat in front of me with Corbi his wife but he was there with me none the less, and I felt it.

Every Sunday during the season, as I only got to see them on the weekends, we would be at the park before they opened and ride all we could until around 1pm when I had to take them back to Virginia. For a long time my son would only ride the woodies as it took him a while to work up the courage of the steel loops. So, being able to ride Thunder Road with my Son on the last day she would operate will forever be special to me.

Thank you Thunder Road for all the memories you have given me and my family. I will remember and cherish them forever.

Thunder Road:
Your signs may be gone, but we will remember you.
Your structure may disappear, but we will remember where you were.
Your carriages will be in a different land, but we will always remember your ride.
As you took your last laps into the sunset remember those who grew with you.
For many people you have given them their first ride into our world and we thank you.
You can never be replaced, but for many, you will always be remembered.
Thank you, Thank you, for the memories.
