If they built anything like Disney / Universal in Charlotte I would never buy another pass to Carowinds again. (No hyperbole)

(Real theme parks) and by that I mean they actually spend money on designing "themed areas"
some examples are the Wizard world at harry potter Universal.

Or the jurassic park world @ Universal

To me. theme parks aren't about big thrill rides 100% but also about stepping into another world.
It has to be a good mixture of two things. and Carowinds just doesn't cut it. The only theme you get in Carowinds is a rotting trash can every 10 feet that smells like vomit and dead carrion

My opinion is that Carowinds markets its self to people on a "budget" and young punk kids who need a daycare for mommy and daddy are working during the summer.

The theming is just not there..

They're slowly working to bring heavy theming back into the park. It will take SEVERAL years, because Cedar Fair owns 11 parks across the country. However, the want to bring some theme back into the park. Nothing on par with Disney or Universal though.

True. I'm anxious to see what they do with the space currently occupied by the now defunct Thunder Road.
The only real IP's that Carowinds have right now are Snoopy and Dale Earnhardt, and neither of those have much to build off of or make anything spectacular from it.

I will close by saying that Carowinds has been playing a ton of Universal music at the entrance. (Not sure how this is legal)
I heard Lord of the Rings theme, Harry Potter music, Super man Music among other big theme songs. Made me reminisce our past Universal trips but then I realized. No there is not a beautifully themed areas awaiting you inside this gate.. lol.

Hey, finally a question I can answer with certainty. An amusement park is considered a public performance (same as clubs, bars, even radio stations). You just pay a set amount per year to the PROs (ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC) and that grants you the rights to play the songs throughout the year. ASCAP, SMI, and SESAC then pay the publisher, or songwriter. Usually, the performer doesn't ever see any money from this.

Yet.....

But if I had to guess, the level of theming will be more along the lines of Holiday World. I'm not insulting them when I say that, but the theming is somewhat subtle. It seems more like an amusement park to me.
