General Carowinds discussion

Would it be possible to get a webcam turned towards TR? As painful as it might be to watch it would be just as fascinating as well. I'd love to have a time-lapse videos starting with demo and ending with whatever we are getting next year. Even though Cam 2 is off the website that would be the best one to turn to TR.

Gosh - I can't believe I'm more emotional now (silly) than I have been the entire time! I just always loved this ride. Other people I always went with could take it or leave it, but I always LOVED it.....They didn't dislike it, but I always wanted to ride it over and over, and they would want to go to rides like vortex (at the time) or carolina cyclone. I would make people I was with so mad because I would insist the we get off and get right back on. I would ride like ten times in a row and it would make them so MAD....

:(

Aww good ole then named Frenzoid (now Southern Star). Felt like you had to walk into the abyss to get to that ride back then. lol. That was a great location in my opinion next to the lake.

I just said this to the fellas on Sunday. I was like Carowinds just need to dig a huge and long trench throughout the park and fill it with water. I think Jonathan or Coasterbruh said a park is not a park without a lake and I agree. It's why I love BGV, Lake Compounce, CP which sits in a lake then also have a nice side river within the gates, Hell I can even say 6FlagsATL.

I "heard" they were gonna start taking it down immediately a while back but when Steve said what he said I mention that to "the source" and they were adamant it was gonna start ASAP... guess they were right...

Thank you to every single person that has commented in this post. You have all made me feel a little less alone in all this. I don't post much, but I follow the conversations and every single one of you have helped keep me together. My real world friends and family just don't get it, you know? "It's just a rollercoaster" But it's not and no one understands that more than you guys.

I'm interested to see what happens next year and I'll definitely go back to the park, but that doesn't lessen the sting of losing such an amazing coaster. I've been visiting the park for about 20 years, so I never got to see her in all her glory, but it was a ride I never skipped. I'd ride it multiple times on every visit because it was just so much fun. It'll be very strange and sad on my next visit when there is no reason at all for me to visit the County Fair area. Anyway, thank you!

Not sure I want to see demo pics. I think the sting might be a bit less if I just see a before and after. I remember a family home was sold for demo/development and I was good until I drove by one day and saw half the house standing there.

Like that home, I have memories and photos of all the good times with friends and family. Thunder Road will live on with all of us. It is up to us to make sure the memory lives on.
