I was in the mountains on Sunday, and we stopped by Mystery Hill. I noticed that in the "history room," they had plans dated June 1st, 2015 tacked onto the wall for an alpine coaster, to be built by a company called "(something I can't remember) Sports", but I know was based in either Salt Lake City or Denver. I asked the lady at the desk about it, and she said that "he (I think her husband, who I believe is the owner of the property) really wants to do it, but we're not entirely sure if it will happen or not." The estimated price to build it was about $998,000, I saw from the documents.

Here is a drawing of what the layout looked like:

Alpine coaster

I would love to see this built!

Since riding the alpine coasters in gatlinberg and pigeon forge, and having grown up in the area near Boone, I instantly thought one or two of them would be a great fit and draw for the area. It's a good almost 3 hr drive to any sort of amusement, and unless you are age appropriate for Tweetsie you are SOL.

^ That was kind of my reaction as well when I saw it. I'm sure it'll be great (Griffon's my #8 and my favorite ride at BGW), but this was not exactly what I pictured the ride would be in my head. Of course everything is going to pale in comparison to Dollywood's announcement yesterday.

Aww... they were doing so well with keeping this whole project a secret... :sarcasm:

It looks alright. Griffon was a lot of fun, but considering this is for Cedar Point, I guess you could say I was expecting a little more.

I still am somewhat doubtful that this is the actual ride. I am getting the sense that Cedar Point purposefully did this. But, I very well could be wrong.

This is it. I know how they got the screenshots.

I don't think Tony is able to pull of a short Long Con like this.

The more and more I look at Valravn's layout, the more I feel that this will be more of a "meh" ride than a "WOW!" ride. But hey, I might ride it one day and think, "Man was I wrong! That was amazing!" But judging from my ride on Griffon, I'm gonna stick with the meh assumption for now.

Oh well, maybe in eight days all the details for Carolina Harbor will get leaked out. But in all seriousness, I've got to give it to Carowinds for somehow managing to keep this a secret. Sure, we know that it's probably going to be a water park expansion and that it will probably be named Carolina Harbor. But other than that, almost nothing, (except for a maybe a rain fortress  ) has been leaked. By this point last year, we pretty much knew all the details for Fury, but they've managed to keep a good bit of secrecy around this project. What will really be impressive is if next year's expansion is as big as everyone here thinks and if they can go the remaining eighteen days without leaking any more of it.

Anywho, back to Cedar Point's inability to keep anything a secret for a decent amount of time.

A No Limits recreation has already been done based on the leak.

Valravn looks like its going to be really quite fun, but its also kind of like how I feel about Tempesto, it just doesn't seem to fit in their line up very well. Yes it will be an excellent ride, it just seems odd, I guess its just that we've come to have such a high expectation about Cedar Point rides.

Dollywood has won 2016 anyways, I highly doubt there is really anything else thats been rumored at least thats going to top it.

Someone on reddit posted this will be the proposed location between Raptor and Iron Dragon. I do love the logo which can bring many ideas to the plaza if they consider one along the lines of Banshee. Color wise navy supports and the burnt orange track are a win for me. Looking at the layout it has the typical elements of a dive, but I see no vertical loop and the first vertical drop looks depressingly short to be the tallest dive coaster (230-250ft) which I'm sure they'll market it as such. Id still ride it but it's not going to cause me to run to cedar point just when I take my random trip. I just don't know if it's a coaster CP needs. I'd prolly send it to CW, Vallyfair or World of Fun but who am I lol

At times I think any new coaster is good for any park but at times I don't see what is so great about a dive coaster. Kind of puts it in the same category as a novelty coaster and not a must get in my car and drive there coaster. Now, if you want to make it a 300+ ft drop, then yes I will drive to ride. I've been on a couple but they are, in my opinion, just ok rides.
