When I posted that I was not saying that the park was going to make it a separate admission. I was stating how now the GP will find a way to complain about how the waterpark needs a separate admission ticket. Sorry for any confusion!

LAME.
There was no reason to remove Thunder Road for this.

I think it's fair to say this is only "Phase 1" of a multi-phase plan. There's still a ton of space where Thunder Road's station, lift and turnarounds were, that lots of cool stuff could go. Also underlying maintenance issues for Thunder Road still may have necessitated it's removal.

^^ They already have. I remember some of the commenters wanting the water park to be separate admission so the water park couldn't take over the theme park.

I'm surprised they didn't use all of the turnaround land. Maybe they'll expand into it in a couple of years but that seemed like the most likely spot for water park expansion. Looks like Action Theater is staying as well as Dodgems. The area where Thunder Road's station is looks untouched. I'd say there's still a good chance of a county fair expansion.

Glad to see some updates to the kids play stuff. When i was there yesterday water was sprayong out of the bottom. I guess no changes to the lazy river. Wonder if either of the other wave pools will get filled in and slides put in its place...

It looks too much to me like TR could have been preserved. Unless they eventually replace it with a ride that maybe interacts with the new water park (*couch* manta *cough* either mantas *cough*), I think this expansion isn't worth it.

Carolina Harbor is only part one.... notice how the water park doesn't touch any of Thunder Road's station land.

I really like how they have all of the junior attractions on one side of the water park basically creating a "kiddie area."

Eh....I don't do waterparks so this doesn't do much for me. However I realize many want it and will enjoy the larger capacity this will create. I don't think it was worth losing Thunder Road over...but I'll live.

The Carowinds water park expansion might be the worst kept secret since Hillary's email.

There was nothing in those plans worth losing Thunder Road over.
