7pm today. I saw no evidence that the claw has been active. The turnarounds are still standing and the rest of the track appeared to be intact.

On Monday it looked as if some destruction work was being done to the ground on the far side of the structure (from the water park) close to the 2nd hill.

David Warren: Is the action theater going to be torn down along with Thunderroad. I hope not. It is such a good maze for the Last Laff during scarowinds. I could see it being used with the waterpark expansion as a surf shop/ dressing area.

Thunder Road is already being replaced next year .
Just know that the park wouldn't get rid of a beloved coaster for something mediocre. (I'm not saying that what you're ^saying is mediocre. That's an awesome idea). I'm just saying that the park knows that they're losing a coaster...

I think it's a little bit of both, but most of the GP would only understand the low ridership angle of it. I hate that it had to come down, but when you think that the park invested several million dollars to improve the ride and the numbers never changed, it makes sense to remove it.

As is stands, sure. Sure, now that TR is gone, you can put it wherever. But, it doesn't WARRANT the removal of TR if you simply cut into the parking lot about 30 feet. It could go almost exactly where the plans show if you simply move it a few feet.

^as awesome as that is, I cant support dumping 2 coasters that are fairly spread out away from each other for one coaster. something like this would have looked awesome up front along carowinds blvd but the water park expansion has made that land an island now.

I think they mean exactly what they say when they said "people vote with their feet", just not in the sense a lot of people are thinking. I think, as you said, there was some big problem that we haven't heard about. With that said, if people rode the ride often ("vote with their feet"), then they would have had no problem spending the money to fix the ride.
