Im not ranting I PROMISE but what is the incentive to renew a pass when its only 9.00 off the regular price!

Payment plans, man. Payment plans. I'll take 9 months over 6, PLUS the PLUS :)

Since we don't go to Scarowinds, I always get a gold for myself (for parking) and a silver for the rest of the family. I'm grateful for the silver pass.

Well I don't know how old your kids are but right now a gold pass is only $5 more than the silver. I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money but if they are at the age where they might want to try Scarowinds I would get the gold.

EDIT: I just saw where that was for a 2015 Silver Season pass.

Payment plan or not, its still not an incentive. let me put things into prospective for you, I have a top tier pass for all parks except Disney.

For universal I pay like 25.00 a month and my incentives are:
Free valet parking
a free night of HHN
Free bottle water
Deep discounts at the hotels
All the clubs at citywalk,
to name a few . . .

For busch/seaworld I pay 13.75 a month and my incentives are:
All 11 parks
Free preferred parking at all parks
Free and discounted bring a friend pass
Discounts to HOS
to name a few . . .

For Six flags i pay 9.08 a month and my incentives are:
All the parks
Free parking
Bring a friend free days
to name a few . . .

My Plat food with dining seems to be the most expensive and less bang for the buck. A lot of my pricing for my other passes is discounted for renewing.

I agree with you, Coasterbruh. Not a whole lot of incentive to renew early.

Let's see, that's nearly an 11% increase over last year for me and about a 90% increase in 8 years.

Hmm. And so begins my renewal dilemma... We had a chance to take my son last week but passed on it because he can't ride Thunder Road since it's gone, he can't ride Gr8 Sk8 because it's gone, Boo Blasters hardly works... We decided not to take him because there is very little for him to do at Carowinds anymore. :( It's almost not worth our money.

The "Tail of the Dragon" is not on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a stretch of Hwy 129 that crosses the NC/TN line. Some of the best curve combinations are on the TN side, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah my post meant to say, there is a section of road OFF the parkway. But I type too fast and don't read what I write often

I don't believe we are renewing next year. We've been pass holders the last five years and spent a ton of time at the park and my kids are pretty much burned out on Carowinds.

How should crowds be this Saturday with school starting back? I know it's hard to determine how crowded it will be, but should this Saturday be a good day?

By the way, I should have clarified that my previous post was in no way intended to be a RANT, it was just a dilemma that I am now facing. With less incentive to renew passes, and the fact that Carowinds is primarily thrill rides, my wife and son hardly went to the park this year so it's not as good of a value for us right now as a family.

I am optimistic in the future of Carowinds and am happy to see the positive changes. However, not renewing passes for a year doesn't have as much of a 'penalty' as it used to. That point in and of itself is making me think hard about it.

I know this has been discussed before, but I have the same problem. I take 3 to 4 kids with me every time I go. Next year the two oldest will be tall enough for everything in the park, The problem is with the other two one right now is one 50"and the other is just 44". I don't really understand how the one that is 44" can ride Aerial Chase but not Goldrusher, and the one that is 50" can ride Cobra and Cyclone but not Screamweaver. Is there a reason to the height restrictions, like maybe insurance?

I like the sign but I do agree with a previous post that, in this day and age, the display board might need to be bigger. I was primarily thinking about visibility... especially with a video. Then again, I don't think SC law allows a video on a sign like that. I think the quickest a frame can be displayed is 6 seconds per frame. That could be just for billboards though.

^^ I have never understood some of the height restrictions. Also Gold rusher use to have a height restriction of 42 or 44. My oldest is twelve and 5'8 but oNE year when he was younger he was able to ride then the next year it was raised to 48 and he couldnt. Also I don't understand how it is 52 for the windseeker but 54 for screamweaver..... (to me it is still the meteorite)and only 48 for southern star.

Goldrusher's height restriction was 36" to ride with an adult and 44" to ride alone when I worked at the ride in 2005.

We're gonna have to ride that Peanuts Pirates ride, I guess. I had never even known it existed. I guess I haven't explored Planet Snoopy enough. I didn't think there was any other "adult friendly" rides in there (besides the gliders).

Although I rode Woodstock Express for the first time on our last visit. I loved it. Although I wonder if I'd feel the same way when I ride it again, since it won't be a first time experience anymore. It was great except my knee caps were raw after it was over. When we got back to the station, the operator said, "How was that ride?" I yelled much louder than everybody else on the train. Several people waiting in the line laughed at that. I guess it probably was pretty funny that the guy that barely fit in the seat seemed to enjoy the ride more than the kids.

I'm going to have to wait to see what else Carowinds announces next week, before we make a decision on renewing passes. If there isn't anything "else" for us at the announcement, we will probably skip it next year. If they announce a new Ferris Wheel for County Fair (the worst amusement ride, in the entire history of lame amusement rides) I'll definitely not renew next year. From my perspective, they took away TR and are adding stuff I have no interest in. This isn't some protest against the removal of TR. I'm okay with the removal of TR, it was a mediocre ride in my opinion. But it was fun enough and did have really short lines, so I could often re-ride without getting out of my seat. That was why I was really glad to have it in the park.

Unless they've got something good (in my opinion) up their sleeves, it's just that the park will have fewer things I'm interested in riding than it did this year. So, I have a hard time justifying paying more for the passes. I'd probably save some money and just do one day at King's Dominion next year or something like that.
