Wait- you've never had Chickie's and Pete's?! Just at Carowinds or you've never had it period?

I haven't had it, let alone only been in the restaurant once

It took 30 minutes for me to get my order of only the fries. I eventually had to just ask for them...
But then again, it was on good Friday and all...

I have noticed the improvements under Chef Kryz. Last season the pulled pork was kind of greasy and soaked through the bun by the time you sat down. I've had it twice this year and it is a lot more lean and your sandwich isn't soggy by the time you sit down. I do wish the buns were less dry but you can't have it all. :D

The BBQ beans seem like they are now made from dried beans instead of from a can as they appeared previously. Once again a noticeable improvement in taste and texture.

EDIT: Since nobody in my family drinks soda anymore it would be great to see some water bottle refilling stations like we saw in Cabelas. http://www.globalindustrial.com/c/plumbing/drinking-fountains/water-refilling-stations?infoParam.campaignId=T9A&gclid=COy03vjqhMUCFdgJgQodHg8AWg.

The bottle filling stations are a great idea. UNC Charlotte's football stadium has those as well. Their requirement is that bottles need to be clear.

Jonathan wrote:The fun fries were strange.

Charlotte Observer interview with Chef Kris...
...At an Indian supermarket, he found wheat pellets and discovered that when you fry them, they turn into crispy tubes in different colors. He flavors them with fruit powders and calls them Fun Fries.

They’re such a hit, they may be added at other parks in the Cedar Fair Entertainment chain.

Fun Fries are currently available at Snoopy's Snack Shack. We are still working on getting all of the menus cataloged, so they may be available elsewhere too.

You can't tease us with a statement like that and then not follow through. Did you try it? Their brisket has a really nice crust on it and I always get it sliced on a plate with no bun.

The brisket at the park? YES!!! It was great! I couldn't finish it all. The one I brought is in the freezer until I figure out how to prepare it...

^ I meant the one you purchased and now I know it is in your freezer. The one in the park remains my favorite meal when there and I prefer the Tomatoes & okra over the M&C, but both are good.

I wonder if we did some polite asking we could find out what rub they are using on the Brisket. It really does make for a nice crust.

I had never even heard of Chickie's and Pete's before I went into Carowinds, and I didn't know they were a chain until I read this thread. O.O

Hahaha! This was exactly what I was thinking when I wanted just fries with my dining plan at Harmony Hall and NOT the chicken sandwich or burger or chicken fingers it came with. XD

But sadly I, like others, have had this cold food problem in Harmony Hall. I've gotten, let's see... five meals there now. Four were cold. :( Only the first was warm because I had to wait ten minutes for them to make the chicken sandwich (and they burned the bread all black and toxic). The rest of my meals have been cold, which is a gorram shame, because the food's probably good hot but I wouldn't know. D:

Oh, and the pizza! The pizza in Harmony Hall I threw it away after two bites. Apart from being cold it was just... not good. I didn't like it at all.

The dining plan is totally worth the money (so much so they've probably realized they've made a huge mistake and will never offer it again), that is... IF you can get food that's fresh. I haven't sorted that out yet myself though. I'm a very picky eater so it's been hard for me.

My wife and daughter both have Celiac and I see Chicken shack is totally gluten free. That's great as long as it's open but I have seen several trip reports that it's often closed when the park is not busy. I want to get the dining plans for next year but looking at the meal list online there are only the salads at Chicken Shack listed. Are there other places that have basic salads available under the dining plan? We are going to try to contact someone about the BBQ at Harmony Hall to see what marinades or rubs are used to be safe but 99.999999% of the time salads are safe as long as the dressing can be verified to be gluten free.

They have great salads at Harmony Hall and you can add a large variety of toppings to them. I frequently ate the salads for dinner as a healthy option.
