General Carowinds discussion

WOW!! I didn't realize today was National Barbiturates Day!!

What am I excited for? Hmm, let's see:

New wave pool to accommodate patrons (double capacity and nice wave size)
Repurpose of the original wave pool (old one lived past it's use)
New slides (I've never been on them nor have 90% of the Carolina's GP, again, awesome)
Extra bathhouse room (you're gonna need them)
Extra lounging areas (yep, nice to relax, maybe with an umbrella drink :) )
Many things for families and kids of ALL ages (from toddlers to teens, from young to old, yeehaw)
Great upgrade to food and beverage offerings (Not having to get dressed and go walking for an Adult beverage is awesome. Ohh, FISH!!!)
A separate entrance for water park guests (This one is huge with the guests)
A new Exit. (awesome, Thank You)
A refresh of paint and sites (very welcome)
VOLLYBALL in the sand. (Hell Yeah!!)

I'm sure I am missing some things but come on. I hope these additions grow revenues like pampas grass!!

Now, for Cirque Imagine, I have been to Cirque Lanuba at Disney twice, went to their shows under the tent at Charlotte Motor speedway a few times. This is going to be awesome and its a terrific way to get entertainment to step up. Their shows are mesmerizing, funny and just all around feel good.

Have a Nice Day! :D

Wait, where did I put my debt card? Hmm, found it!! Just in time for a NEW 2016 Season pass with Dinning thank you.

^Probably

Hahahaha . . . I JUST said today that probably many of the people who don't like water parks are just saying that to cover the fact they're embarassed take their shirt off lol.

Does this mean wifi? Throw that in and season pass will be mine haha

They actually released park-wide WiFi this year, so.........

Wow that's great to know. Thanks for telling me.

[offtopic]Hmm... Let me do the math.

Comcast owns Universal Studios and has a market cap of right around $150 billion. They are investing about $1.5 billion a year in Universal Studios Orlando.
Cedar Fair owns Carowinds and has a market cap of right around $3 billion. They seem to be investing about $20 - $30 million a year in Carowinds right now, which is more than the $50 million over three years that they initially announced.[/offtopic]

Yeah, I'm very happy with the improvements last year, the announced improvements next year, and all the future improvements that are coming.

Thank you, Cedar Fair and Carowinds! It's exciting to experience a park that is evolving into something big! (in the perspective of a regional park as compared to a huge tourist mecca)

You do understand that before you get into those air conditioned rides you're standing in line, in the heat. I didn't notice it keeping people away and I'm the most a\c loving guy I know.

Moving on, I didn't have a pass this year for Carowinds because I really can't take the heat and I can't ride coasters. My family went without me all year. Next year I'll be going too and chillen pool side. Why now? Well all this new stuff looks pretty dang good.

That seems to be the consensus among my Facebook friends. People sharing the story, talking about can't wait. I think for some it becomes too easy to forget that we know thing the gp doesn't. Know one I know, outside of this forum, knows anything about our slides being just like slides at another park. They just see new slides they've never experienced or had to travel to experience in the past.

Does it replace TR, no, nothing will, for goodness sakes people are still complaining about White Lightning.

Parks change, its a good thing, at Carowinds they look to be aiming at having something for everyone.

I still don't like it but I'm truly happy for you and those that do. I think my frustration looking back was only one new slide complex... But as someone pointed out they have time for this in the future and hopefully other big rides( and I need to lose weight to take my shirt off :D). I'm sorry you can't ride coasters... My friend has some kind of spine condition that prevents this and it truly sucks If that's what you mean by can't.

Blood pressure issue. Tilt a whirl at Tweetsie kicked my butt last year.

I don't know what I find more annoying, the people who are irrationally upset about the water park expansion (that we've basically known about for a year) or the people who are irrationally upset that not everyone shares their enthusiasm for the water park expansion.

Here's the thing, for everybody: This site exists for everyone to share their opinion, whatever their opinion may be. What is not allowed is being hateful because someone doesn't share your way of thinking. Some of the keyboard warrior vitriol and flat out hatred coming from some people is absolutely pathetic and I'm not going to put up with it for much longer. It's difficult because I've personally met a lot of people on this site, so it puts me in an awkward position when people don't respect the rules and are basically challenging me to do something about it. I keep a pretty hands-off approach to moderating, but I've spent 12 years building this site up to what it is and I'm not going to let anyone ruin it no matter who they are. I'm not putting up with people who spend most of their posts being jerks.

If you are excited about the 2016 announcement and you want to tell us about why, feel free to do so. If it doesn't excite you and you want to tell us why, feel free to do so. But if you personally attack someone else because you don't agree with them you're getting a short term ban, and if that doesn't work later a permanent one.

No. It is included with park admission.

EDIT: I did find the wifi spotty at times this year when the crowds were bigger but since we are one of their experimental parks with that, it takes some time to work the bugs out.
