General Carowinds discussion

SeasonDiningPlan wrote:And more slides? Please. I don't know anyone who enjoyed the old ones!

And you've made it very clear that nothing they could have possibly added to the water park would have satisfied you, so I'm not sure what makes your opinion so valid...

SeasonDiningPlan wrote:The water park has had wave pools and slides. So really this is nothing new

All slides aren't the same, and these are ALL-NEW to Carowinds.
And most parks of Carolina Harbor's size have more than one wave pool...

SeasonDiningPlan wrote:I think more than likely what will happen is Carowinds will end up going bankrupt again and being bought out by another company. This park has never been in good hands or good management. Paramount really didn't do it any favors and cedar fair hasn't either.

You're crazy if you think this. Carowinds is in it's most profitable period since it opened, clearly.
That's why Cedar Fair is expanding it. Because it's profitable - that's the only reason to invest in something.

SeasonDiningPlan wrote:I think the real reason the park is investing money is because they know without investments Carowinds will fail. So this is a return on investment thing. They're hoping that this money spent on Fury and the water park "upgrade" will turn a bigger profit in return.

I'd be interested to look at the books for this park and see what their profits or debts looks like sometime in the future.

You literally just described the sole reason any amusement park would add any attractions. Congrats...

But I'll drop it. No need to reboot this argument. :D

coasterbruh wrote:Hahahaha . . . I JUST said today that probably many of the people who don't like water parks are just saying that to cover the fact they're embarassed take their shirt off lol.

That's my theory too!! Lol :shh:

RollerBee wrote:^^Well some of us aren't comfortable with our bodies, not everyone can look like you Jarvis. I am sure no one wants to see my faux beer belly.

Trust me Rollerbee, the last thing I'm gonna be thinking about when that floor drops on the new slide next year are your moobs glistening in the Carolina sunshine! lol #FreetheMoob

sccoasterbear wrote:CF, please know that some of us appreciate what you are doing and love that you are returning the Carolina themes back to the park!

Absolutely! And I'm one of them too! Thanks Cedar Fair!

coasterbruh wrote:Soooo . . . who's excited about that full service bar! No longer have to trek to Harmony Hall for a real drink anymore!!!

Me! Trust and believe I'm gonna need some hard liquor after this migraine of a debate! lol

Does anyone think that if they decide to expand more for a bigger waterpark(slides etc) ,that we could see the other wave pool go and be left with one? Is that possible or very unlikely? And I don't mean 2017 I just mean like in 10 years. It seems like one wave pool would be enough but I guess it will depend on population.

Considering how crowded the new wave pool gets every year plus the fact that they are going to be adding a huge expansion onto the current waterpark, I think we are going to need that second wave pool for a very long time.

Now that the dust has settled . . .
I have to say , I am truly excited for 2016. Although many of us didn't go into the announcement blind it was still thrilling to FINALLY get the official release from the park. Knowing the names of the attractions, what those buildings are and what's staying or going made it all up for me. I'm a water park person, I'm a roller coaster person, I'm a show guy as well so its for me to not be pleased when any park makes additions. Its just more for me to see and do atop what said park already has.

Its been said "there's nothing original about these slides" and its true. However I am fully aware a majority of park visitors have not been to dorney, kings dominion, valley fair or oceans of fun. Nor are they planning a trip any time soon. I'm sure no one is looking at the scrambler, drop tower, splash water falls, the flyers or ricochet and say how every park has it and how unoriginal they are. So why should water slides be the same?

The team at carowinds seems to work very well together! Love how they managed to get such a unique and distinctive moniker for the water park. Love to be able to get some more unique non theme park food thanks to the newly minted chef. After all, I did mention how much I missed outer hanks the other day  . So having a place to replace the large seafood void is refreshing (although I did find out today the park does have seafood already).

I have had the chance to experience the cirque show at both KD and KI and I enjoyed them a lot. They were slightly different from each other and I don't think carowinds would be the exception. With the water park expansion, this show and all the existing attractions, I feel carowinds is definetly a two day park.

I am pretty excited about this expansion! I cant wait to see construction actually start! Btw every time I go to the waterpark with my parents they tell me it sucks and that we need to take a trip to adventure island in Tampa, Fl. After I showed them our new expansion, They were speechless. What now mom and dad? What now?

Can we get a FURY IPA at the new Bar?
I'm sure either NoDa or Birdsong breweries would collaborate with Carowinds on this.

As much as I love a good IPA, I would love to see something different. Everyone is doing IPA now...it's "the thing". Maybe a cool Bock or a Honey Lager for Fury. Would be cool at the new bar.....but even better....a Surfside Saison for the new, rocking Carolina Harbor theme. WOOHOO!!!

Edit: Ninja'd. ^

Idk but I'm beyond disappointed right now......... Can't believe thunder road is gone for that. Edit and I know this isn't all the space... The rides look underwhelming to me.

No new triotech dark rides are being installed for 2016. I wouldn't be suprised if the two remaining racing coasters in the cedar fair chain get the axe soon as not only does cedar fair seem to have a vendetta against standup coasters but now wooden racing coasters as well. They must have bought those waterslides in bulk since KD got the same boring slides this year and KI is getting them next season as well.

There was a Honey Ale at Harmony Hall that was available earlier in the season. Sorry, I haven't been to the park since early July so I'm not sure how long it lasted. It was made specifically for Carowinds...not sure by which brewery.

If you haven't noticed most of the watermarks in the chain have two wave pools which have and always will be greatly needed. They're both packed most of the time. Hell may need a third later down the line lol

I was getting ready to say, uhhh Dockstreet Fries definitely sells seafood. I think however Harbor House will be better. Hopefully it can make feel like I'm at Harbor Inn lol yea right!
