General Carowinds discussion

I really like Devon's work. His Busch Gardens doc was also very good, and he did several of the short video segments you see around BGW: how to squash yourself into Tempesto, the ads you see in queues for various up charge opportunities, etc. Who paid him for the Fury doc, anybody know? It'd be awesome for him to produce a history documentary of Carowinds.

Well done documentary. I like how they focused on Ronnie Mosley and company. A nice perspective. Some night views showing the green lift and tunnel would've been nice, but otherwise much better than the Travel Channel show, imo.

Well this proves the reason the park got Fury was because of the attendance spike of Intimadator which the park was able to maintain. This is the formula the company uses for Cedar Point. Note what he said about making Intimadator slightly taller than the others. They also did the same with Fury. If you had any doubts about the 'Cedar Point of the South' declaration, this proves it. This also helps to explain why KD is still waiting for another coaster. If our attendance continues to grow, we can likely expect another coaster sooner than later.

Why do you feel it was underwhelming? Just asking...

I made that statement with no intentions of malice or ill will. I feel like there was so much more ground that should have been covered. With a total rehaul of the park from top to bottom I see a documentary about the park as a whole, not just the coaster. To reiterate, I didn't think it was bad at all.

I thought it was incredible. I do agree with Jonathan, though. At the very least, they could have gotten ACE representatives from our actual ACE Region. What does the ACE Mid-Atlantic region have to do with Carowinds (besides their shared love of coasters)?

Fair enough, but that's not what this documentary series has ever been intended to be about. "From Dreams to Screams" is about the construction of roller coasters and the people behind them.

For me, each successive film in the series has been the best thing I have EVER seen produced on roller coasters, absolutely blowing away anything made by Travel Channel/Discovery/etc in the last 25 years.

I really enjoyed it. It was very well done, and the video was beautiful. The interviews really made it special. I only wished it was longer. In that way, it was kind of like a roller coaster itself.

Although I don't think the travel channel intended to make a comedy, I was laughing throughout their show. It was kind of a joke.

I think that's because this was very much appealing on a personal and emotional level. With the travel channel stuff I feel like they are constantly jump cutting all over and trying to sound as excited as possible. It basically feels like that documentary exists to sell you a ticket and that's it, where as dreams to screams feels like a much more personal story. It's less commercialism and more about the rides we all love.

Woohoo! I have 2 cameos on this! I was at the park the day they were shooting some scenes. You can see me and my girlfriend in line at the 2:05 mark. And then we are also getting in the first row at the 8:24 mark. I'm famous! lol
