The day will come when Carolina Harbor and Carowinds are separate tickets, it may not be in 5 or even 10 years but Cedar Fair is making a trend of adding gates to the waterparks, prepping for future options.

Here you go again with your fear mongering. Where is your proof of that? I have proof that Cedar fair is trying to making water park INCLUDED with the gate at the parks. Case in point, Oceans of Fun!

Ok . . . moving right along. I would pick the location near the interstate because simply, resorts need space. Personally, when I wanna go to a theme park resort I wanna kinda escape the park but know its right at finger tip reach. Take universal for example.

In the upper right corner you have the Portofino Bay Hotel. It has 750 rooms and tons of meeting space. It also has a spa, several restaurants and shops. For the sheer size of the resort, you would think it would have more rooms. In the bottom left corner you have a smaller resort with 650 rooms. It has a lot of the same amenities but on a not so grander scale.

In the upper right hand corner we have Royal Pacific. It has 1000 rooms but they are smaller and the same amenities. It is more condense than the other two. The bottom left is their newer budget resort, Cabana Bay. It is a value to moderate resort featuring 1800 rooms/family suites, a bowling alley, lazy river and other things.

Now, with all that said, you see that a real resort takes two different things. 1) Lots of space and 2) A third party owning and operating it. Would I love to see something of any of these calibers at Carowinds, ABSOLUTELY!!! Some people like to have "stay-cations" where they just go to a local hotel and stay a night or two especially if its nice and have amenities that are worth doing. I feel the only place fitting for something like this is to the right of the entrance to Carowinds. You can incorporate two lanes or so on the right for hotel guest as Disney World does for the entrance of the Magic Kingdom which gives access to the Contemporary Resort. And I can definitely see a nature path to the park as well as shuttles.

Cedar Fair is in the business of making money, they are going to look at every option they think has the potential to increase revenue. The size of the waterpark is growing, the waterpark could survive without Carowinds. Carowinds can survive without the waterpark.

While I would be surprised if Carowinds and Carolina Harbor were separated, I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Point and Soak City merged after they get their big expansion.

monorail would be better than a PRT. imagine 10am when the park opens and you have 100's of guests at the hotel waiting in line for a PRT car to return. a monorail could bring them over in a larger capacity

I think the best place is by the interstate past / beside the new toll booths. It would be nice IF there was an exit and IF Cedar Fair bought the land from Arrowood Southern they could park it in the corner (33 acres) with its own entrance.

1. Not too close to the park taking up potential expansion real estate of the park.
2. Far enough away to relax and get away from the crowds and auto traffic.
3. Already past the toll booths so entrance to the park is easier.
4. Plenty of undeveloped space in that corner to spread out and have a decent Staycation.
5. Passer byes can see it from the interstate which could put thoughts in their head. (A lot of people didn't realize Carowinds had a water park until Thunder Road came down, so same thought here)

IF there is a need for transportation to and from the park a simple bus will do. Schedule it like other parks do, every 15 minutes or so to pick up and drop off. Simple, easy, less expensive.

Maybe. If you do the monorail like the one was done in the past and not allow people to stand, you're looking at only about 75 or 80 guests per train. With PRTs having a 6-8 passenger capacity, you'd get that with only 10 cars. So, having 20 cars would be about right. Anyway, cost would DEFINITELY be a factor considering these, If they're worried about cost, they'll have a foot-path and a trolley path and the trolley would be a drivable motorized one not on a track. I was dreaming big. Maybe Carowinds can buy a ticket to the PowerBall.

In all honesty, I'd like to see a Hilton, Courtyard by Marriott, or one of the Hotel Indigo's. With everything in the park being modernized, I'd like to see a hotel chain that won't become outdated quickly.

Agreed. I like less pricey but I think "Holiday Inn" just doesn't resonate "Resort" to me.
