General Carowinds discussion

Maybe just use them as side markers for paths. Maybe a foot wide running just inside curbing andn the like. You could also use them as "stripes" that cross the path in certain places to provide messages or colored lights (like at the barriers while ERT is going on. The security would simply see them change from red to green and allow everyone in rather than trying to strain their necks looking over people for the go-ahead)

I think doing that would provide an awesome night-time experience with "running lights" on the paths, etc. A lot of stuff they could do with that. The problem is that I'm not sure how much electricity they would create not being the entire path itself vs the cost of installation.

A MUCH better way to implement solar panels at the park would be in shade structures. Still expensive, but if we can find shade over a resting area or queue line (in areas where trees aren't prevalent) then it's a win-win-win. Some building roofs could have solar panels installed as well. However, solar is still expensive right now and it's tough to argue the return on investment.

The "solar road" concept is still in the experimental stage, last I checked.

If you've ever been to Sierra Nevada brewery up near Asheville, they know how to do solar well. There are solar panels in the parking lot and on top of the building.

Great afternoon in the park. Arrived at 5pm and went straight for Intimidator, which was a walk-on. Pretty much everything was a walk-in(even more so then last Sunday, yes Nighthawk too). I think the combination of Scarowinds and the Carolina Panthers home game played a big part in the lack of crowds today.

^ I agree. I got there about 2pm and everything was walk on. The only places with short lines were in planet snoopy. Left at around 5pm and came back at 6:30 which had even less visitors (thank god for school nights and football) in the park. I loved every bit of it. I marathoned on the gliders about 5x after that was starting feel the dizziness. All together Timmy 9x Fury 12x Nighthawk 3x Drop Zone 4x Screamweaver 4x Goldrusher 3x Hurler 1x Cobra 1x Windseeker 3x Southern Star 3x Afterburn 6x Dodgems 2x and Rapids 1x. A full day don't you think. I ate in Harmony Hall and caught the live entertainment geared towards Scarowinds much better than kickn country and to top it all off TAWNY ran into me lol it was great see you Tawny!!!

Now just an observation. Is it me or have anyone noticed the the lift motor in nighthawk is not as loud is it use to be. It was freakishly quiet when we were headed up the lift today. Looks like they also replaced the shade netting in the brake run as well.

It was great to see you, too!

I had posted on facebook the night before that I was going to go, and I was super excited when Wesley (saxrockinhomo) said he'd meet me there. My daughter finally got to get on Fury and Intimidator, and she was super thrilled! The ride ops at Afterburn were way more strict...one wouldn't let her on, and another almost didn't. She finally got a ride on that, too. She asked to ride Nighthawk, but I said maybe next time. (It's my least favorite...)
Anyway, it was a good day except that it was freakin hot.

So.... how come all of the Cedar Fair mine trains have height restrictions of 48" when Six Flags, Disney, and Herschend mine trains have restrictions of 42"?

^^Had to end up adding more to the secret weapon but it all worked out in the end. Honestly she handled it better than I probably would have at her age. But it was kinda awesome getting to be there when a kid gets to ride their first few "big kid" rides. Just another one added to the list of wonderful experiences I have been able to have thanks to this wonderful group of people that I have met thanks to CC. Yea there may be some bickering between posters but in truth we are all a great group of people and can generally all get along in person.

I know this is minor but they changed the slogan on the website from "The Thrill Capital of the Southeast" to "Where the Carolinas Come Together."
I really hope this is a sign they're committed to the Carolina theme. :D
