I can see them doing a small renovation if they are going to keep it. How often does South Gate even get used? Saturdays in the summer time?

I REALLY want them to keep it and upgrade it. Maybe install a few more ticket booths, replace the asphalt with pavers like they did with Thrill Zone, paint a couple of the buildings, etc. Cedar Point is upgrading their Marina gate, I don't see why Carowinds can't (especially if the mystery attraction is opening in County Fair). Entering through the south gate is a bit underwhelming, even with Afterburn roaring overhead. People should be able to experience that same "come on in, we're having a great time" feeling they do at the north gate.

[EDIT]
If they could repaint the South Gate to look like it did back in '98 and possibly add a fountain, it would look really nice. Maybe another Carowinds sign on the outside of the gate.

I have worked at an amusement park, a waterpark, a museum. They all operate in a way similar to each other.

LOL, How do you know my work history? Just because you were a ride op that got fired means nothing. You have yet to show you know how any business works. And since Several members of my family run/have run very successful businesses, of which I've been a part of...LOL, who am I talking to. You're barely a bus driver...

Exactly how does this get blamed on me? Roller, who was FIRED from Carowinds for doing something he shouldn't have, was talking out of his backside about something not being logical when it is. I can't help it he doesn't get logic, nor can I help it everything he posts is negative. I responded in my typical smarmy manner, he got ultra hostile.

But it's just me? Okay...

Down boys!!

As to the South Gate... it was renovated not TOO long ago. They could do some work on it and keep it. I think they will do that simply because Carowinds will want people to be in the park after sundown when the water park closes. If they're parked at the water park entrance, the South Gate will be the only option to leave the park in that direction without running a trolly or something from the front gate.

I vote to keep the South Gate for that reason (because it will be the reason I'll want it to stay.. and I assume many others).

I agree about the nighttime benefits. I know the stage for Skeleton Crew is temporary but it would be a great spot for a luminosity-type show. I know it's a bit far from the north gate but it would be a great way to attract people to that part of the park.

I'm still guessing that area is going to see some changes during the off season. There are still markings on the ground. Typically don't have markings unless things are changing...but I was wrong once. LOL

Does anyone think Cedar Fair will get another B&M Giga in the future? I once read that Knotts was suppose to get one, but ended up at Canadas Wonderland instead.

It would be fun if Kings Island got one, then all the CF parks with the staggered B&M hypers will also have a Giga.

Looks like Cedar Fair is making record breaking profits according to this article . . .

"The consumer demand for our entertainment offerings has never been stronger and we are excited about the growth opportunities ahead of us," added Ouimet. "We have a solid lineup of new adrenaline-rushing and family-friendly experiences for our increasingly popular Halloween events this Fall; and our 2016 capital announcements have already been receiving national media attention. This includes Valravn, a world-record-breaking roller coaster at our flagship park, Cedar Point, and Carolina Harbor, the largest water park in the Carolinas, at Carowinds."

Nice to see the two most important parks in the chain get called out for their additions   !
