It has become increasingly and painfully evident with each post I make that I need to get a life. :lolno: Here is my next re-imagining of the lake area:
My next idea, instead of replacing Nighthawk with a Mack spinner, would be to place an Impulse coaster on the other side of the lake next to Ripcord. In Nighthawk's place, I would put in a new "Hillbilly Jalopies" ride and a Giant Frisbee next to the end of Vortex. The impulse would be a tribute to White Lightnin' with part of the ride over water and even a floral clock in front of it. The entrance would be next to or in place of Panda Express. In the middle of the lake, there would be a small island to launch fireworks from. The side of the walkway opposite to White Lightnin' 2 ("2" wouldn't be in the name, that'd be horrible) would be lined with shops and possibly a stage for a Luminosity-type show. This would all be part of my "Piedmont Plains" area combining the themes of the old, rural Carolinas with the new, modern Carolinas.

[EDIT] Another thing I thought of, instead of building a Luminosity stage, would be to bring back the Sternwheeler and use that as the stage. You could put fountains in front of the sternwheeler and launch fireworks off of the island behind it. The boat might have to be larger but it would take up less walking space and it would be more unique than other nighttime shows at Cedar Fair parks.

This would be the county fair section in its entirety if I redid this section, with all the light packages, fog machines and loud music on every ride, all the food and the games. I'd relocate Ricochet and put put cars that actually spin on it for the true wild mouse effect. This is a county fair people. Every ride you see would be in it minus the star flyers and drop towers but def the crazy high thrill rides. Easily make Carowinds the largest park.

I like the White Lightnin' 2 idea but that ride was 863 feet long in a straight line. No way it would fit where you want to put it. (Even if that number was track length and the loop took up some of the distance.) For me, I'd rather have a white launch coaster that was longer and more intricate than White Lightnin'. It was a triple novelty at the time (loop, launch and backwards) but I think we can do the ride better in today's time.

White Lightnin' in my drawing is an Impulse coaster (Wicked Twister, Steel Venom, V2, etc. ) though you are probably right. That area might be too small.

Given that the "confirmed" transformation of CGA's Vortex fell through, I don't see ours changing anytime soon. Or maybe it didn't happen because of issues not involving the ride itself. Does anyone know why it never got converted?
