Speaking of VR, I've noticed that the only coasters it's been tested on are Mack coasters (blue fire, Alpenexpress, Thunder Run CW), so if it makes its way down to Charlotte, I can see it being tested on Ricochet. They can probably test it on coasters they haven't manufactured but I imagine it's easier to sync the graphics with coasters they've already designed.

Seriously though, I think Carolina Cyclone, Woodstock Express, and Carolina Goldrusher (and last season I would have said Thunder Road) are the only iconic "classic" rides still at the park, and Intimidator, Afterburn, and Fury are the only world-class coaster we have. As far as I'm concerned these six should be on a DO NOT REMOVE list.

As for the rest, then let them come down if it means we get something better (or more enjoyable) in it's place. They aren't fun, they aren't historic, and they aren't world-class. Instead they take up space and physically hurt people with no other added benefit. If these other coasters were humans we'd have them arrested for assault (or rape in the case of Vortex).

^I would also add Carolina Skytower to your list. It isn't the most memorable ride but it is definitely a Carowinds classic.

Hopefully we don't lose another coaster anytime soon, but I'd guess the most likely ones on the chopping block are Cyclone, Goldrusher, and Vortex, with Cyclone being the most likely to go. Prior to this year, I would have said Hurler was also at risk, but I don't think that's the case anymore. I'd be okay with losing Cyclone or Vortex (although I'd rather see them get relocated to another park than demolished), but considering all the history the park has lost recently, losing Goldrusher would just be horrible. Losing Cyclone would be a blow to the park's history as well, although it wouldn't be quite as painful.

I think you could gain the most by removing Nighthawk. In its place, you could fit a medium-sized new coaster, 2-3 new shops/restaurants and a few new flats. However, I think in most visitors' eyes, removing it would be equivalent to removing Intimidator or Afterburn which is really disappointing.
