General Carowinds discussion

Carowinds tried a Christmas event a few years back I believe it was called Winterfest. But it did not go over very well and I guess maybe because it was too cold to have rides open. Too bad they can´t have drive through Christmas lights like nearby Heritage USA. That event was extremely popular. But it had live Christmas music shows, church services, and of course Jim and Tammy Faye. And unfortunately Carowinds does not really have any prominent celebrities. But I do like the Christmas lights on the Sky Tower. But maybe they could also light up the Windseeker with holiday lights. It already has the built in light package.

Then why was it cancelled? I thought it was due to poor attendance.

Winterfest 2006 was cancelled because Cedar Fair said so, Carowinds Management was not happy about it especially since they had to refunds to everyone that had already brought tickets.

Well, to be fair . . . I purchased 10 myself. When I went in 2005 it was always a crowd. I think bringing it back would be a good thing.

Wonder if that's where Cedar Fair is going to have it's Satellite Charlotte offices? I know they have a satellite office in CLT now, not sure where. This would make major sense, though.

I could easily see Cedar Fair personnel taking over a floor for their second office and Carowinds personnel taking over the other floor. Seeing as they are building a new warehouse in the employee parking lot, it seems like they might be gearing up to tear down all of the admin offices and warehouses in that space behind Cyclone and Carolina Harbor and open up lots of land back there for future expansion.

In other random park stuff... Is anyone else who uses Google Maps for aerial views of the park seeing the parking stripes in the grassy lots on the interstate side of the Parking Toll Building? Is this something on my computer being screwy or is this some kind of overflow lot of sorts? I know the same type of thing exist in the old grassy overflow lots next to the main parking lot, but I've never seen them this far out.

I thought the same thing Jarsh. Being that the building is so close, I could see them moving admin offices there and opening up space where the current office complex is. And if they're building a new warehouse, they could easily move the greenhouse/warehouse behind Cyclone to open that up. Heck, they may even eventually decide to buy the office building if they do indeed open that space up.
