I still cry when I am looking at pictures of Thunder Road, Thunder Road was my first big roller coaster and the one that hooked me on Carowinds and coasters. The absence of Thunder Road is like a hole in my heart. I will shed a tear for Cyclone but only because of the history.
From stories I heard my first ride on Cyclone was unpleasant for me and I refused to ride it until after Top Gun was built. I think my first ride on Cyclone was the day I got heat exhaustion as a little kid, got sick and passed out. The way my parents tell the story I had to carried out of the park.
If Cyclone were to be moved to another park it would not be the first time an Arrow welded steel coaster has been moved. Roaring 20s Corkscrew and more early Arrows were moved. Thunder Express at Dollywood!
