Looks like they plan on rolling it out across all the parks in the chain in the future. It's currently only available at Carowinds, CP, and CW for 2016 and can only be used at the park you purchased the add on, rather single day or season long.

So they want me to pay them to takes pictures when I have a phone/camera that can do that for free.....
Oh and they/their photographers own the copyright to boot....
I would rather buy a selfie stick.

selfie sticks are the reason I hate going to parks like universal. People always in the way sticking a stick out in front of you just to take an awful picture that makes everyone look like they are neckless due to the fact that its taken from 8 feet in the air!

Great job cedar fair, Lots of other parks, disney . . . universal. Has a system like this. Its great and one less thing for patrons to worry about, capturing park memories.

Pretty sure you can't take an on-ride photo with your camera phone RollerBee or at least the legit one with the coaster graphics printed on it. I'm glad it covers those because they can be costly too. I always set aside at least $150 or more (depending on the number of coasters in the park) just for on-ride photos anytime I visit a new park I've never been to.

Even tho I love my selfie stick, I can agree with you on this. I've ran into many groups who decide to stop short in front of me to take a selfie while in route on the midway.

You got me on the coaster graphics, the only on ride photo I have ever brought was from Taxi Chase. However I have taken one or two good ones just not of myself.

And before anything says diddly, I was given permission from the Rides Department years ago to leave this and one of Hurler up.

carowinds website . . . wrote:CAPTURE! Enjoy your day at Carowinds, because your photos are covered! With your FunPix card, you can be professionally photographed at the front gate, on your favorite ride, with park characters, or wherever you see one of our park photographers. At specially designated FunPix Photo Spot locations, just open the park app and scan a QR code with your mobile device to unlock super-cool frames and borders for one-of-a-kind photos.

It sounds to me they may add photo spots throughout the park now (unless this already happens?). Im def gonna get this!

[offtopic]You haven't ridden Fury yet? I swore I thought you did.[/offtopic]

More info . . .
Purchase a FunPix plan online, at the front gate or at any Fun Pix location and create your account.
Download the park app to your mobile device. This is where all your FunPix photos will be housed.
Get your photo taken at locations throughout the park!
• At FunPix locations (show your FunPix card after the ride)
• By roaming FunPix photographers (show your FunPix card to the photographer)
• At FunPix Photo Spots. Open the park app and scan the QR code at each Photo Spot with your mobile device to unlock special borders for taking one-of-a-kind photos.

So yeah, I feel this is going to be a success. But I have one question and dont laugh . . . what about those of us who dont have a cell phone that is capable of scanning codes?

I don't think it's something to be embarrassed about. I have a dumb phone too. Call me old fashioned, but I don't like carrying around a piece of technology that's capable of recognizing and tracking my actions, moves, purchases, etc. I think the NSA has enough control over my privacy as it is. I'm completely aware that I'm in the minority on this issue, however.

But more on topic, at first glance this does seem to be a very superfluous app. Maybe there's something I'm missing?

I would *hope* there is a web version of what the app included. They can't just assume everyone has an app based device. I remember with Disneyz version, you would go to the website and enter your photo pass card number.
