The flyers have not been "kiddied" neither has the pirates ride so why the fear that any other ride that will go in the area will be so as well?

Wait, yeah they have. Maybe not to us, but to the GP they pretty much are. Whenever I go with a new group of people and I suggest the flyers, they don't even know what I'm talking about and then they laugh when it's in Planet Snoopy. Sure, after the ride, people like it and admit it's not just for kids, but the point is that their perception was originally that anything in Planet Snoopy was automatically a kiddie ride.

Now I personally have no problem with a new flat going in Planet Snoopy, because I will ride it regardless. My point is just that if it does go there, a lot of teens/adults who aren't Carowinds enthusiasts won't even realize it's there because they ignore the area completely. It's probably fine for the park since something like breakdance is more family-oriented than thrill-seeker oriented , but it's just a shame for those people who miss out on it.

I was speaking to the text of it being toned down from being the ride it was meant to be . . .

I sure hope they don't remove Yo-Yo all together. While a wave swinger is a better ride and would go great in in Yo-Yo's place, Yo-Yo is a good solid flat that would fit nicely in planet Snoopy. I can't imagine that it has a lot of maintenance.

Maybe we'll also be lucky in 2017 and they will also refurbish scrambler. It would benefit greatly from a light package.

^My only problem with Yoyo going to Planet Snoopy is the 48" height restriction. It would be higher than any other ride. GR8 SK8 had a height restriction of 46".

I think a lot of the height restrictions are on the high side. The same rides at other parks are lower than Carowinds.

Great news to hear the flat rides are coming to Carowinds. This will fill a major void that many have been wanting. Observer story stated they would be for 2017 season. I would think most should go in the County Fair area, and likely some in the Thunder Road area. But I would like to see that Cobra swing ride come to Carowinds rather than California, if it is the classic carnival version that I am thinking about. And would still like another octopuss ride like the original Witchdoctor. But the 5 flats are great news nonetheless.

Can someone help me understand the whole light package thing? I dunno, I guess im not in parks too much after hours but I don't think it really enhances the ride experience. Maybe i'm missing something.

I can't speak to what everyone is thinking but it definitely would make it feel more like a carnival/fair ride to me if it had cool lights (and this is a good thing, I think that's what they should feel like). It just makes the atmosphere more fun I guess, idk.

It does add an extra thrill to the ride imo. more so on spinning and fast paced rides. Flashing lights and possibly music, its like a sensory overload. now lighting package on something like windseeker is pretty much just for spectators and eye candy for the park.

Exactly. Not only does a good lighting package enhance the experience of night rides IMO, it's main service is an aesthetic improvement. They just are fun to look at, especially in-motion, at nighttime, twilight, and during Halloween events.

I would be immensely pleased if these flats got tricked out with lights and even carnival-style audio. It would only strengthen the theme and atmosphere of County Fair, which is where we're all pretty certain most of these rides are going.

I think Yo-Yo would fit Planet Snoopy, especially since older kids that have outgrown the kiddie rides but aren't yet ready to take on the larger thrill rides will have something else to occupy them, without walking all the way to County Fair like they've usually done.

As for Scrambler getting refurbished, that'd be amazing. I wouldn't hate to see the Kaleidoscope name return either, with a new sign and lights package (even though lots of guests seemed to have a hard time pronouncing it from it's written form, despite being a somewhat commonly known word).

That video makes me wish Cedar Fair would pick up a Huss Supernova for the park on their Japan search; it's by far the funnest and most intense flat ride I've ever experienced, and I've never even rode one at full-force.

btw how difficult is it to add a lightning package to a ride not designed with one? Surly you cant just super glue light bulbs to it.

Adhesive LED strips? I think that'd be the easiest/cheapest way to go about putting lighting on.. well, anything. (Keep in mind that I'm far from an expert lol).

Could not disagree more. Lighting can be one of the most transformative tools to enhance a park. I don't know how much ride lighting improves the on-ride experience, but it certainly can create a powerful atmosphere on the midways.
