Seriously guys, how many of these type of rides in THEME PARKS (in the US) operate like they do at carnivals and fairs?

Precisely my initial point, it shouldn't be a matter but clearly there is a difference. Typical carny rides placed in theme parks are dramatically toned down. Look at the carny version of a breakdance how it's intended and then the CGA's. Yea I know the ride cycles are shortened but if there's a section in a park called county fair, I'd like to feel like I'm actually at a fair. That's for any ride that's in the section. Light packaged just enhances the experience and draws attention. I'm not saying oh let's have actual ride op Dj who control the ride whatever cause I know that wouldn't happen. Just let them operate in its full glory. Lol

Exactly. Just because there's not a precedent for it at a lot of other amusement parks doesn't mean we shouldn't voice our desire to see carnival-style lights and music come to rides in the future.

The carnival/fair experience is very appealing and I've never understood why more theme parks didn't capitalize on the attraction people have to them.

Considering we actually have a county fair section. Has anybody been to the fair lately? Last I checked they're pretty packed especially at night. Why not capitalize on such attractions and atmosphere.

Did you ride it . . .

And my educated guess is that theme parks and carnivals are totally different beast. A theme park operates constantly for 4-6 months, minimum a year. A carnival is here for 2 weeks then off to another and usually over a smaller time frame. Theme parks look at it from a longevity point where they want their rides to last. Notice how almost every year at carnivals the same rides don't always return?

Nope! I've been going to the Coastal Carolina fair in Charleston, SC for almost 10yrs and the older rides from the time I moved down there to this day are still there. They add new rides to the list every year. It's almost as big as Carowinds if not bigger. The flats are incredibly insane and for the older folks some are bliss.

Longevity?? Isn't that what the off season is for?? Maintainance mayhem, checking all parts and making sure things function correctly?

I was speaking more of wear and tear when I was stating my educated guess. If the off season fixed everything, thunder road would still be standing. And I guess i'm going to the wrong fair, the SC state fair is a shell of itself with a lot of the older rides, rainbow . . .crazy flip . . . and the likes no longer show up.

Agree however could be they already had plans on removing thunder road anyway. The SC State fair?? I haven't been since 2013 since I lived there and it never satisfied me because of those very rides you mentioned aren't there anymore. I'll happily drive back to Charleston.

So now that i've wandered around the new water park expansion a few times, I begin to wonder where these new flats will go? It seems that the area between the Garden warefare arena and the new water slide would be perfect for 1 or 2 of them. Also can we just agree that we need a log flume ride back at Carowinds too...

It's a lot of "activity" in county fair as well as out front and near boo blasters. I think we can see 1 added to planet snoopy as well.

I believe the Break Dance will go to Planet Snoopy, Maybe near Harmony Hall or maybe Boo Blasters(and Starlight Specluater) will move to Planet Snoopy. Wave Swinger will most likely replace Yo-Yo. Troika I feel could fit in front of Boo Blasters. Musik Express I feel would look at home filling the Thunder Road area. Top Scan I can't place no where except where Mini Golf was.

However I am not counting for any ride removals or games removals.....
Yo-yo was speculated by one of the corporate guys in a news article...
