General Carowinds discussion

Custom yes, and, if they're gonna do it, do it right. Get that bit of land out back from the railroad and lets get something that will rival Thunderhead or Lightning Rod. Looks like Dollywood has their wooden coaster program in high gear and it's paying off for them. Put something similar (but unique) to Thunderhead tightly through the trees behind Cyclone and Hurler. That would be awesome.

My issue isn't with the smoothness (or lack thereof) with Hurler, it's the layout. It's got, IMHO, a very boring layout. It was lackluster when it opened over 20 years ago, and it hasn't gotten any better.

Ran into wormy earlier at the park. Looks like Intimidator got some new seats or padding unless the cleaned the heck out of them.

While heading up Fury's lift you can see if course the top scan then there's some pieces to the troika and a bunch of pieces to the music express. I'm already excited for 2017.

Also the Boardwalk section looks like it got some love and care. The light house is freshly repainted as so touch ups on the buildings. Looks very fresh and clean and the landscaping around the park is very nice.

It seems the park is much more crowded tonight than last year's passholder preview night. More passholders because of the water park, maybe? Great weather, and the start of spring break for many. Lots of ride operators learning, too.

You're absolutely correct. Seems most of the rides are slow in operation due to team members still training and learning the systems as are the operations in the food service. I stood in line for almost 30mins at the Juke Box due to training on the registers.

Overall I was impressed with how the park looked. Your right about the employees learning. Had a time with the Funpix pass. I had to go two 4 different places before someone knew how to load it on my pass. I understood that a lot of them are new and that the Funpix is new, so no reason to get upset. Even though it seemed like a lot of people, the rides I rode the lines kept moving and wasn't to bad of a wait I think the longest I waited on Fury was 30 min. So all in all I really enjoyed tonight. It was the first time I had been on Preview night.

Yeah, the park did well last night from what I saw. Even with all the training and new staff, everything ran relatively smoothly.

Yes, those are new seats on Intimidator. You will note that the seat belts now look like they belong with the slightly modified seat design.

Just a note from the past few discussions I have had with Mr. Marcy
1) He loves trees
2) He subscribes to some of the same thoughts that Mr. Fehnel has
- regular paint is inexpensive
- plants are inexpensive
It is easy to fit those into the budget and continue to touch up the park and make it look clean and fresh. Anybody who has been to Dorney Park knows what I'm talking about.

I thought the park looked great and I noticed lots of new paint, new plants and general "dusting" of the place. Was worried about how the Starbucks would look up front, but it actually fits in really nice there.

Looking through the gates into the water park I was a bit shocked at how much of the existing park was now dirt and torn up. The entire Carolina Harbor is going to look squeaky clean and new I think.

Major hiccup for me was the new PvsZ ride. Announced 20 minute wait was a little over an hour and they really need to work on sorting the crowds and getting them into the lines. I'm sure it will all work out in a couple weeks, but I think this week it is going to be slow going. Besides the long wait, I did ride it twice so I could play both sides and i had fun with it. It will be a nice "family" get away from the heat attraction.

The new layout in Harmony Hall is a blessing. The drinks are now off to themselves and away from the middle of the food area. YEA!!! That was always such a mess.

I'm still excited about this season and hopefully will make it back out there today if I can get off these last-minute, emergency work calls on my day off.

They could always turn on the second web cam.

I took a couple pics of the outside but it isn't opened yet. Peeked through the windows and it looks nice inside. For outside pics, Carowinds has a couple pics on FB I think.

I was impressed with the ride staff as a whole. The food service team needs help. I won't go into details but just hope they get things worked out.
