Huh, I really didn't think Mystery Mine was all that rough. As long as you aren't limp as a ragdoll going through the turns, I wouldn't consider it too bad at all. My worst ride there may come as a shock to some, considering it is up there on people's favorite lists, but I don't think I'll ever step foot on Thunderhead again. I'd have to compare it to Mean Streak with how violently it rattled my head and neck.. And now after having a neck injury, definitely can't take the risk.

I don't think Thunderhead is anywhere close to as bad as Mean Streak. It's pretty violent, but I think that's do to the laterals and not the smoothness of the track.

I don't know, maybe I'm just getting more sensitive then I used to be. Or maybe I just don't like GCI tracks.. Roar at SFA wasn't nearly as bad as Thunderhead for me, but still rattled me quite a bit.. And not in a good way. Who knows!

We are one week from the originally scheduled Thrills in the Hills and Dollywood still has not reached out to participants to inform them that it has been canceled. I wonder how many people are going to show up next week with no idea. Bit of a head scratcher from "the world's friendliest park."

^EDIT: I see you already mentioned that. I guess you were meaning that they hadn't done more to inform oops...lol Oh well I'll still leave this for anyone else that isn't aware.

They announced it being postponed on Dollywood's website. However you have to actually go to the event page. There is nothing on the main page or even Facebook announcing that's it's been postponed. I'm not sure what all was asked for when registering, but if email was asked for then you think they would have emailed everyone who registered.

When we were at the park yesterday they were unbolting some of the topper track on the lift hill and carrying the pieces down to the station. No idea what that means.

It was a great day at the park in spite of the event being canceled. Thunderhead is running wonderfully. Had a ride in a hail storm which is not something I ever thought I would experience and probably don't want to ever again.

From Screamscape:

2016 - Lightning Rod - (4/21/16) The hungry masses have been waiting for an update on the status of Lightning Rod from Dollywood. I contacted Pete Owens who sent Screamscape the latest official word on the project.
"We are resuming testing this week and will open the ride in a couple of weeks when that is complete."
