I enjoyed it last year and I'm excited to see what is different this year.

I wonder if they are using the same method/cards as last year. I think I still have some money left on the card. Maybe it rolls over??

Yes. Especially when no other food prices are.

Was that THE only sign the park had as compared to the main sign in the Plaza and the two denoting north and south Carolina last year?

I tried a few things at taste of the carolinas today. for the most part they were all pretty good. I really liked the pork spring roll. extremely disappointed in the shrimp & grits. 4 tokens for 2 pieces of shrimp and tartar sauce. lol was there actually suppose to be grits or is that just another name for tartar sauce.

The only sign I seen. The North and South Carolina I definitely did not see, maybe because all the huts are in front of Harmony Hall and not all spread out through out the park.

I seen the South Carolina sign yesterday. It is facing Planet Snoopy, in front of the bathrooms right beside Harmony Hall going to Planet Snoopy. If you don't walk towards Harmony Hall from Planet Snoopy, you probably will not see it. I haven't seen the NC sign, but if the SC is there I'm sure NC is somewhere.

Yeah, and I saw a tweet of the main sign in the plaza. I think protein is off his meds . . .

Who else gave Taste of the Carolinas a try this past weekend? I wasn't able to make it but curious to hear how the first weekend went.

I thought it was great. For $20 I had the sausage, fig,and goat cheese popover, beer basted pork barbecue sandwich, pimento cheese ball, Biltmore cake, and a Benford Brewing beer. All of it was excellent. I liked it all being in one place in front of Harmony Hall because it was easy to pick and choose.

We had a group from NY in town Sunday, so it was nice to show off some regional cuisine to some impressed customers. Now that they’ve overcome some growing pains from its inaugural season I’d say it’s a success so far. They’ve moved to a wooden token system instead of last year’s cumbersome and inefficient keychain/register process, and the booths are centrally located like the Bands Brews and BBQ event. Good to see Benford Brewing back again, in cans this time. Don’t skip the mater pie!

There was one technical glitch with their network going down and temporarily reverting to cash only (poop happens), which caused a run on the ATMs. Coincidence?

Thanks, guys! I'm definitely going to make it to try out some dishes. The central location sounds like it is much better to help decide what you want to sample.

Yay on the wooden tokens!
