My youngest daughters birthday is Saturday May 28 which is on Memorial Day Weekend and she really wants a trip to Carowinds for her birthday. It doesn't have to be on that day but near it. My oldest daughter is in college and only gets Monday Memorial day out. Sunday we have plans so that is out of the question so that leaves us with either Saturday the 28th or Monday Memorial day to go. Which do think will be less crowded? Fast Lane may be an option.

That will be the busiest weekend of the entire year. I suspect Monday would be better but either day will likely require the Fast Pass.

It will be crowded on both days. However, it helps any, my friends went to Kings Island last year for memorial day and they said they got on all the rides they wanted. Fast Lane is always a good idea. It'll be enough time in the middle of the season for the ride crews to pick up their paces. They should be moving fast when it's crowded. Also, from personal experience, the atmosphere is different. It's a lot of people in the park, but everyone is moving fast, it's very action-packed, and in my opinion exciting. It's just really fun, even though you won't get re-rides, you'll enjoy your rides because for the most part, everyone is there and the energy is different. Whenever you go, you'll have fun!

Yes Memorial Day weekend is normally very crowded and packed. The 28th is the Annual JoyFest concert. So prior to the concert the park is going to be swarmed with church groups and fans of the artists performing. Normally when the concert starts lines get better as the night goes on.

It's so interesting that Carowinds is always packed that weekend when most parks aren't. Last year Cedar point wasn't busy at all, and I usually plan trips to parks on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and never hit big crowds. Carowinds is packed out though

After seeing the price of the fast lane for the Saturday before Memorial Day we just might be able to go on the Tuesday the day after Memorial Day (May 31). Does anyone have any estimates on how the crowds that day will be. If we went that day it would be without the fast lane.

Being a Tuesday I would say that the crowds should be rather light. But then again, this also depends on if people have that week off or not (which I doubt).

Most schools in the Charlotte area will be in session the Tuesday after Memorial Day, so I'd guess that would be a pretty light day for crowds.

I thought I would do a follow up on this. We decided to go Saturday and instead of buying a single day ticket and a FastLane we decided to get season passes (which actually cost less). That was a really good move for us. The park did not seam overly crowded to us compared to normal Saturdays in year's past although a lot of people were there judging from the full parking lot. I think that the water park and JoyFest kept most people busy. We got there a couple of minutes after 9 and although we were told the season pass processing center didn't open until 9:30 we were surprised to see people exiting it when we got there. We got our passes processed in just a couple of minutes and then entered park. We rode Fury 2 times with our season pass early access and then made it to Nighthawk as it opened. Harmony Hall was quite crowded but the lines on Fury were never over 30 minutes that we saw. The weather was quite good and we all had a great time and now we can go back all we want this year.
