General Carowinds discussion

I am pretty sure Carowinds brought it when they brought the John Deere building, my guess would be employee parking. Also looks like the mound of dirt in the center of the toll road was moved.

Since I haven't worked there in basically 10 years I don't know how they schedule now. Rides is the bread and butter of the park and they like to open up everything as much as possible. So to be on a part time schedule they probably wouldn't want that. They need a lot of availability.

Merthecat wrote:So, I'm hoping to get a job somewhere this summer, and I figured I might try Carowinds. Where in the park would you guys recommend as a fun, not overly-exhausting place to work? I'm only 16, so there are limited openings, but I have my eyes on the Ride Attendant position and photographer for Kaman's Art Shoppes (who Carowinds outsources the art stuff to).

Do any of you have recommendations/experiences? Any information would be much appreciated.

Working at Carowinds from 2004-2006 as Ride operator I would say do not do Rides, That is a fast paced experience and you are moving all day. Photographers isnt that bad or maybe doing games would be better for you.

Thanks for the info. I'd be okay with rides, especially since the only rides I'm old enough to operate are likely smaller, slower-paced rides. My main issue is with scheduling, since I don't live in the Charlotte area and could probably only work every other weekend. Do you have any idea how flexible they would be for scheduling in a situation like this?

The best answer that I have is to just call the employment office, wait about 10 minutes until they can answer your call, and ask them yourself. But I'm sure that they are willing to work with you on something.

At the park. Pretty empty. Fury was a walk on. Prolly mentioned before but lots of spray paint markers in county fair. Also i saw a survey crew near the bus parking lot and the toll plaza. Also I always get the brisket in Harmony Hall but this time, my god I dont know what they did to it. It was a crumbly mess.

Carowinds didn't buy the building. They're only leasing part of it.

SilverCap Partners, LC purchased it last april, someone could call them I guess...

Looks like there was a fence that divided the area so my second guess is that the L-Shaped land is Carowinds property and the other area is SilverCap. One of them appears to be building something and based on what looks to me like a steep incline from Cataba Trace down to the old Deere place, I still guess Carowinds. I knew there was a fence somewhere but it has been afew years since I have been behind the park.

Apparently we have a new GM at the park... Brad Marcy is moving into a corporate role and Pat Jones (female GM at KD) is the new GM at Carowinds. All this per PR Release from KD.
