Visited the park today. Rode Fury 4x, Intimidator 4x, Afterburn 3x, Nighthawk, Vortex, Drop Tower, Hurler, and Boo Blasters.

-Fury seemed angry, and I mean that in a VERY good way. There was airtime on nearly every turn, the three camelbacks absolutely delivered, and there was little-to-no vibration.

-Intimidator seems to get better every time I ride it this season. I know this sounds like an oxymoron, but it had insane floater. It was incredibly sustained. Sorry Fury, but Intimidator has the best airtime in the park the way it's running.

-Afterburn was great.

-Rode Nighthawk for the first time in four years. It was fun! But the capacity is atrocious. So Nighthawk can still go bye-bye.

-Vortex was just bad. It was so boring. My legs ached. My neck hurt. Just tear it down.

-Hurler was fun! I just wish the park would put more work into it!

-Harmony Hall pizza was pretty great. Nothing fancy, but better than most delivery places.

-I spotted clearing by Thunder Road's grave!

I hope not. Well if they do, I hope it sees more action elsewhere. I really don't want Carowinds to be the only company to scrap a B&M.

In before Jarvis posts photos of Hulk in the scrap yard. :shifty:

I'm not saying Vortex needs to be scrapped, I respect its historical value. I just think it would be better at a small park in Europe like Skyrider.

Vortex is small and crappy though. And changing the position that you're riding in wouldn't make it good.

I remember back when Vortex came out in the 90s. That B&M roar and the intimidating look as you could watch it off ride. People screaming. It was kind of a hot coaster at that time in the park.......But after Fury, afterburn, intimidator, it pales in comparison. Too bad it couldn't have been the size of chang, Mantis, or Rid Revenge. I hate standups but when I rode chang in the 90s at KK, I remember how much better it was than Vortex, simply because it was higher and longer. In a perfect world, Vortex would be the size of Chang and be converted to floorless.

Those were from yesterday. These were from last Sunday around 10:30. Looks like Carolina Harbor is making payroll.

I'm sure it is. And as it continues to grow, so will the park. I shopped for a few new slides last weekend to put on my "you need dis" list.

C'mon man... #SaveThunderRoad!!!!

Looking at that crowd, I knew that little waterpark gate wasn't gonna be big enough, lol. New for 2017: A new second gate experience!

I still agree the gate should've been just a tad bigger not like the North gate tho. Just maybe two or three more turnstiles or in this case computers. There's only two which yields four attendants to scan tickets and passes.

Hello all, first time posting on your forum. My wife and I are going to be visiting Carowinds for the first time on Sat. 8/6 on our way to another destination. We have Cedar Point Platinum passes. I am wondering if line lengths will be long enough on that day that I should get a fast lane plus to be able to ride Intimidator and Fury several times each as well as check out other rides in the park. Any input Carowinds home park forum members could give me would be much appreciated.
