General Carowinds discussion

Interestingly enough, the entire park was open to everyone with a ticket at 9:30 a couple of weeks back. We have the season passes so we got there at 9:30 but walked in with everyone else and didn't encounter a barrier at all (usually it's right in front of intimidator to the left and in front of the theater to the right). We went down to Fury amd it was a walk-on even though anyone in the park could go there.

This year I haven't seen Fury lines longer than 10-15 minutes but I don't go on Saturday so I can't speak to that. The Waterpark was insanely packed... even on a weekday.

I did the ERT on Fury a couple weeks ago. They were letting anyone get to fury at 9:30, but only those with a season pass was able to ride.

Is this the first year they are doing this. I think it's pretty cool.

Or I can save $24 by buying everything separately and not buying Fastlane.
$44 tickets, $15 parking, $15 for cup and $30 for All Day Dining Pass.

The new employee lot is adding new spaces. Employees are parking in a field in front of the campground now. More employees than spaces.

I almost started a topic on this but I figured I would just post it here. I'm so confused about Nighthawk. When I rode it, it was a little rough but nothing major that I can remember.

Coaster Studios (YouTuber) gave a top ten worst coasters he's ridden (although he loves Carowinds in general) and Nighthawk didn't make the list of the actual video, but he made a followup comment saying he forgot to add 2 coasters to that list, One was nighthawk because he said it wasn't enjoyable because it was so rough.

Now, lots of people responded agreeing with him and lots of people were in shock that he thought it was rough. Several people were asking why some are saying it's rough, while others say it's not and some were even saying it's their favorite ride in the park....One guy even said that he and his wife rode it and she hates rough rides, and neither of them thought it was rough.

While reading comments on Youtube over the years, I've ran across this a LOT with nighthawk comments. How could there be such a night and day difference in opinion on roughness? I mean - if it's rough it's rough. Everyone knows mean streak is rough and not a great ride (for most people) thus, there are NO lines......I guess if nighthawk is as rough as some say, I would think it would be a walk on or unpopular.

It makes me want to visit Carowinds again soon to ride it a few times to see what I really think...Too bad I'm not closer.

I never realized why I didn't like Nighthawk very much until I rode Firehawk at KI. The reason I dislike Nighthawk is that you spend a majority of the ride on your back, whereas you spend more time in Firehawk 'flying.' I think it's a decent coaster and the only time it's rough is some areas where you are not inverted.

I wonder how many coasters Coaster Studios has ridden... I can easily fill a bottom 10 list without Nighthawk even crossing my mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed Nighthawk when I rode on three trips I made to the park back in 2008. In fact it was in my top ten at one time. However last year when I returned, I couldn't wait to get off of it and get away (which of course takes forever). It was just horrible and I felt like I was thrown around like a rag doll. I used to laugh at people before who said it was awful and rough before...now I know what they were talking about. 7 years obviously makes a difference.

I find the corkscrew at the end to be painful but I've never thought of any of the other parts as being rough
