I'd still go even if I knew for sure Lightning Rod wasn't open. So I'll take the chance and hope it is (: We were going to go last year but decided to wait a year instead because of LR, but despite that, it's definitely not the only reason I want to go. I've wanted to for a while.

I realize Friday will be less crowded than Saturday, but the timing of Saturday works better for us so we would only switch to Friday if people thought we wouldn't be able to do everything on a Saturday (I'd like to see some shows and do other stuff, not just the coasters)

My wife and I plan a short trip to visit some friends and relatives in Ontario, Canada the week of 8/7 and are planning to visit Hershey Park on the way up. Last there in 2007... looking to ride Laff Trakk, Fahrenheit, and Skyrush added since then.

We'll stop at Holiday World (haven't ridden Thunderbird yet) and Dollywood (haven't ridden FireChaser Express or the diamond in the rough Lighning Rod) on the way back.

We can only wish that most of the six coasters we haven't ridden will be open, and the weather will be good!

Meanwhile, over this close to 100 degree weekend in Charlotte, we'll be eating popcorn and watching Star Trek Beyond... (the hell with the yardwork!!)

Fahrenheit is one of the funnest coasters I've ever ridden. It rivals Storm Runner as my favorite coaster in the park, definitely a must-ride. Laff Trakk is also a lot of fun, but be warned, it's capacity isn't great and it's line builds quickly. SkyRush is a great coaster that is ruined by one of the worst restraints ever made. I really wish I liked the coaster more as it has a lot of potential, but those restraints are just horrible.

On that note, hope you have a good time! :D

WHat I did was go right to Fahrenheit when the park opened as its line is probably worst than laff trak as it is pretty much all outside. Then I scuttled right over to laff trak. I was able to get all the coasters done (with some re-rides) by 4 on a saturday a few weeks ago. And a sat down for lunch.

I saw on Reddit yesterday that it was open. Colet and are are seriously contemplating dropping everything tomorrow or Sunday, driving the 4.5 hours to Dollywood, riding Lightning Rod for a few hours, and then immediately drive right back 4.5 hours. The only thing holding us back right now is the thought of it closing when we are 3/4 of the way there.

According to park Maintenance, Lightning Rod is no longer in technical ride rehearsal. It was open all day today too (from what a friend told me). So yeah, should be open from now on.
The website says otherwise, but according to maintenance, it will be open.
The only reason it closed for a little while yesterday is due to weather and lightning in the area.

Well, we did it. We canceled our 2nd Busch trip of the season that we had planned for this weekend and we're on the way to Pigeon Forge. Wish us luck.
