You have to look deep to make sense of things.

I don't understand what the issue is. carowinds created the poster as a teaser. they put a jar of jam on it with jam in quotation marks. There is literally no reason to do that if they dont have some kind of meaning behind it as small as it may be.

The park literally used the Wright Bros to tease major additions twice with neither of them having anything to do with the final product.

They used Wright Brothers to tease Carolina Harbor too...
I can't remember if they used for Fury or not. I bet the PR/Marketing departments get a lot of kicks and giggles over reading this forum.

Well for Windseeker they put it in the wrong Carolina if they wanted it to have any ties to the Wright Brothers. Also they teased Rome for Fury which clearly had nothing to do with it. It's a freaking jam jar.

they teased rome because Centurion was going to be the name of the coaster until the trademark wasnt approved, they had to go with plan B.

Um, no. Carowinds owned the trademark for Fury as early as 2010-2011 when the haunt debuted. Just before or just after it expired, they reapplied changing the app to cover Fury as a ride with merchandise and marketing. That trademark was granted and made public a year before the ride was announced.

They didn't use the Roman reference till a few weeks before they announced the ride, well after they'd been granted the trademark. That's all posted here.

Not sure where you heard that from. They wouldn't have reapplied and changed the application of the trademark to being for a ride with merchandise were they not planning on calling it Fury. Centurion was a fake leak just like the Bat wing coaster at Kings Island. I know who designed both Logos. And the fake website for Bat.

Cedar Fair applied for the Centurion trademark in 2013. Fury 325 was applied for in June 2014. It looks like an extension was granted for Centurion in May 2016. Would that be requested or automatic?

So I came back to the park today to hunt for more notifications. And apparently the system isn't working today?!? No notifications at all.

Notifications seem to be hit or miss. I was only in County Fair and Carolina RFD midway yesterday when I got the notification. There are so many survey markers in County Fair , I have to believe that is where the expansion will be located and the notification was just laggy. Additionally there are several white lines across the entrance (proposed excavation?)

County Fair entrance as in the blue and white arches or the borders on Park Map? In years past the RFD area was Windseeker to Cobra while Afterburn and Boo Blasters were in the County Fair. This changed between 2004 and 2006, not sure when. Top Gun and Mansion were originally part of the RFD.

The Fury trademark was reupped in 2014 to be used for use as a ride with merch during the planning stages of Fury 325. CF had let the Centurion trademark go at one point, Not sure if it's active now or not, I assume they got the extension. And they may have floated it as a name for what became Fury. I know Dani and I talked about possible names they came up with for Intimidator if that licensing deal didn't go thru.

But what chknwing described was not accurate. Fury was going to be Fury way before they teased the Rome thing. There was no "plan B".

When an entity applies for a trademark, they have to apply it to a product by a certain time or it goes dead and they have to keep applying to extend it if they plan to eventually use it.

Centurion would make a great name for a gate coaster. Maybe in someone's Kingdom some day ;-).
