You think a multibillion dollar company that successfully owns and operates several hotels and keeps bringing Carowinds up as the likely next hotel location is dreaming?

Do explain.

Yes I do.
In 5 plus years, it has yet to happen. They have stated they have been courting a partner to work with them, Carowinds Corp planned a resort in 70s before they went bankrupt. Attendance has more than doubled since 1974, Great Wolf Lodge looked at the Carowinds area before they decided on the Mills area.

Cedar Fair has only shown alittle growth in attendance since 2006, I doubt any resort is going to have interest in an area where there is already numberous hotel, a a resort down at what was Hertiage USA and a theme park that is one attraction.

The Mills area has the Mall and the Speedway, both of which are year around attractions now. Carowinds has yet to prove they can be a year round attraction. Cedar Point has the beach, a marina, a year around water park, the lake, and probably more that I don't know about.

He asked about a hotel, not a resort.

Chris, why do you continue to look at the current company as the same company that purchased the Paramount Parks? It's not. There is a totally new staff at corporate and a new board.

I'm guessing you missed the conference call last week where they said that Carowinds is their next potential spot for a sports complex like CP has and a new Hotel.

Oh, and Winterfrst is coming to three parks in 2017. What was that you said about operating season?

As for CP, did you know that three of the four hotels they have in Sandusky close for the winter? And the one with a water park is a few miles from the park.

Winterfest may not come to Carowinds next year, it most likely will but even then it will most likely barely turn a profit if at all. Winterfest 2005 broke even as the park expected, special events normally come with a lot of expenses the first year and less expenses the next year.

I will also note that on many nights Winterfest close early due to low attendance. There was a magic number to keep the park open each night, I don't remember the number. It might have been 1,000. There was also a few of the 23 nights that Winterfest didn't open at all. So you figure Winterfest attendance was probably around 25,000-30,000. A normal Saturday's attendance in 2006 was 18,000 people in the park roughly.

In short Winterfest most likely won't add much to attendance, the busiest time for Winterfest 2005 was December 20 through the end of the event.

Dont worry about Rollerbee he is the resident roller he is still upset about Thunder Road being removed.

back to the topic I am excited for this coming season, ever since I joined this site it was always a message for Carowinds, needed a Hyper under the bridge and more flat rides. What we got was a hyper and surprisingly we got a GIga under the bridge instead. Now they have seen the park and have a great feel for it and they are giving us our flat rides. Bring it on the marketing they are doing is nice for the general public and its fun for coaster enthusiasts.

And what does that have to do with the price of eggs in China? That has no connection to my pipe dream statement, it also actually has very little to do with why I didn't renew my season pass this year.

Right before the season started I wanted to renew my season pass but I had something else unrelated to Carowinds that I wanted to do more.

Not to mention that I have been excited for the flat rides next year since they were announced and I am looking forward to renewing my season pass next year if my other hobby allows it.
