General Carowinds discussion

I actually like The Flying Cobras name. It's definitely a name you could see in a Fair. Also, when I think of Fair I think of, obviously the flats, but also popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes, etc. along with some games AND the lights.

I do find it odd that the Fair got moved but after looking at maps and such there are endless possibilities for growth in the "old" section.

I can't wait for Winterfest next year. I went the first year it was open with Max and loved it. For me having 2 kids and 3 grandkids it will be nice to spend time just enjoying the Christmas spirit with the entertainment, shows and food. I honestly don't care if the rides are open or not. Some of them would kill the atmosphere with their noise and screams. Just my opinion.

Hmmmm. Well according to your images, everything fits perfectly. Exactly as shown in the concept art. So that's settled.

I don't care about roller coaster themes at all. Actually I'd be perfectly fine with a roller-coaster-themed roller coaster. Where the theme is people get on trains and ride around a track and laugh and scream because riding roller coasters is fun. Let's face it, we're all just going to keep calling it "Cobra" anyway. Just like we always have.

I'm just glad for the new paint. I'm fine with another blue coaster in the park. I wouldn't care if they repainted it pink again. Some colors mask the grease and grime and rust better than others. I do think the original colors aged very poorly. That's what made it so hideous to me. It wasn't the pink (or coral as my wife would correct me) color that was the problem, it was the ride just looks really really bad. If they painted it a really hot pink, I think that would really pop and be an awesome color for it. Any color is far better than the grease, grime, rust and oxidized mess that it currently is.

It kind of bothered me the first time I walked into Carolina Harbor and was greeted with.... a grassy field. They obviously have a reason for leaving it that way. Myabe those slides are indeed moving over there. I think it would be a good fit and it would allow for a better border between the dry and wet rides.

I like the mountains theme for the old County Fair area. After all, it IS the hilly area of the park with Afterburn perched on top. Would be a good fit to put a new woodie there (on the calibur of Dollywood's woodies) along with a LOT of trees. Rename and retheme it to the "Foothills" to include Afterburn AND the area that will be vacated by the dinos once the Carowinds meteor hits.

South Carolina isn't really known for its mountains though. When I think of places in South Carolina, I think of Charleston and Myrtle Beach. That's seems like a better theme to put into that section. The current boardwalk section seems like a better place to bring back the mountain theme.

I'm taking a wait and see approach as the permits would say demolition of the slides right? Concept impression, for the most part, are concepts. If everything were shifted up some it could all fit.

It would seem very strange to pay the cost of moving a slide when everything can easily fit without doing so.

That said, stranger things have happened and the new part of Carolina Harbor does look a bit barren, so maybe they will move it over there.

Also those artist representations posted for this are inconsistent. The one showing the Zepher in the left side shows it closer to the midpoint of the wings building and in the forefront of a sign that it is clearly behind and far back from in the pic we've all discussed.

There's plenty of room to not move that slide. Once the actual site plans come out, we'll know.

And no one is brave enough to take my bet. You guys must not think it's such a sure thing ;-).
