General Carowinds discussion

Amos, with all due respect, if you're really getting fed info from the park that is accurate, you'd have been required, as an employee, to sign an NDA, which would prevent you from even acknowledging that you know anything.

FamousAmos wrote:It was about 4 weeks last minute.
The original plan was to place everything in County Fair. Which explains why you see paint markings. They had to survey the entire area from Cobra to Afterburn. Then the plan was changed and moved to Cobra midway. It's that simple.

The real question is why did the plan change...

Because we all figured it out and they wanted to fool us. :sarcasm:

Wild Bull was stored for reinstallation.
Goldrusher was nearly removed in 2009/10.
Whitewater Falls was looked at for removal for Italian Job.
Cyclone was nearly removed for Flight of Fear(Soundwave Concept).
Goldrusher was planned to be enclosed in the 80s or 90s.
Marine World and Carowinds planned to build a marine park at Carowinds.
Carolina Queen riverboat was planned to be made into a restaurant.
Frenzoid was listed for sale by the park under Paramount Parks.
Plans change constantly.....

Arby, I'm not entirely sure. To be honest, I want to be surprised. A few surprises have already been spoiled, but for the current County Fair area, I'm not sure of yet. As long as Southern Star, Afterburn (obviously), and Dodgem stay, I'll be a happy camper (pun intended).

Yeah, there is a chance it could ruin a future announcement. Just really curious why they decided against the old area. Space? Permitting issues? Cost? Better future idea for existing County Fair? Full moon?

That appears to be a question that will take years to get the answer to. I'm sure they will be happy to answer it after the old County Fair area gets revitalized. It is really interesting to see that this new County Fair area was a relatively last minute change...

And about the state line not being seen throughout the rest of the park; apparently there is a reason for it.
Say, for example, that someone steals something in North Carolina. If the state line was seen throughout the entire park, Security would have to wait until the thief came back into North Carolina. But since the line is only paved in the front, what the guests don't know won't hurt them. Now I understand why they won't pave the state line any further, haha.

But at least there are the small flags throughout the park. That's a nice touch.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Are you saying that theme park security only has jurisdiction, by state? What?

FamousAmos wrote:but the park still has to follow the protocols set by each state. It's weird.

I understand that. That's not the weird part. Here's what's weird... that you are telling us that if a patron slaps a Ride Op on Cobra, he can run across state lines and technically, security can not do anything. Well, they can do something but, as you put it, only because the patron doesn't know any better.
Is that about right?
#90699
What I basically mean is that if the patron doesn't know that the state line is there, or doesn't even know that this is a thing, security can still do something about it.
But it mostly pertains to theft/robbery though.

I emailed the park and this is the reply I received....

Dustin,

No waterslides will be moved with the new construction with County Fair. Any further details are not available to the public.

Thanks.

I'm just taking a wait and see approach.
