I'm fairly certain there was a glitch this morning that has been corrected. Earlier the price where you put down a $20 deposit was actually reducing the promo price even further.

Three free-flys from Six Flags and a wooden coaster from Cedar Fair. That's gotta be a record low for new coaster installations in a season.

Don't forget InvadR @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
Still it looks a bit on the light side compared to the past several years.

SeaWorld breaks ground on Ocean Explorer attraction

SAN DIEGO - SeaWorld San Diego began construction Wednesday on a multimillion-dollar attraction that park officials say will take visitors on an exploration of the Earth's seven seas.

Ocean Explorer is scheduled to open in the late spring next year on the southeast side of the theme park, where the Animal Connections exhibit and Circle of Flags currently stand. According to SeaWorld officials, it will combine multiple aquariums, rides and digital technology aimed at providing guests with a sense of adventure while inspiring them to protect the oceans.

Ocean Explorer will consist of a series of undersea research bases housing aquariums and interactive activities displaying unique and elusive ocean animals. Educational displays, technology and graphics will be key components of each section, according to SeaWorld.

On one of the four rides planned at the three-acre attraction, visitors in chairs suspended from tentacles will fly through thousands of bubbles. A mini-submarine ride is also planned.

"This newest, fully immersive attraction at SeaWorld San Diego is the next chapter in creating experiences that can create both wonder and curiosity for the oceans," said Brian Morrow, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment's vice president of theme park experience design. "Park guests will trek through sea-base stations, make special connections with incredible animals and discover how they too can take action to protect the oceans."

Mike Price, SeaWorld San Diego's assistant curator of fishes, said Ocean Explorer will give visitors a chance to "come eye-to-eye" with giant octopuses, spider crabs and dozens of moray eels, some of which have never been seen at the park before.

Guests will be able to see the animals and their habitats from multiple vantage points, Price said.

The Ocean Explorer will debut in 2017 and will “create an expedition of wonder across the seven seas.” A few of the can’t miss features include:

Mini submarines, the signature ride of the attraction, will turn visitors into researchers on a mission to collect data and learn how they can help animals.
A series of undersea research bases that will bring visitors eye-to-eye with Giant Pacific octopuses, Japanese spider crabs and Moray eels
And a number of cephalopod themed rides.

I just got locked in at $3.35 a month in perpetuity for a season pass membership, so that probably explains why they have no money to spend on anything.

Make sure you read the fine print. I thought my membership was locked in 2 years ago but they only locked it for a year. The next year it did increase although not by enough to make me cancel it.

Are you sure it increased? I am on the membership plan and I've been paying the same price since day one.

Yes. 100% sure. I signed up for a SF membership in the fall of 2014. Here is from my credit card statement:

The following summer I got an email that my membership rates were going up. Here is my statement from the following year where it went up.

When I signed up for the membership the minimum term was one year. Note the following from their membership agreement page:

All that is just to say that they can, and will, adjust rates up if they see the need. The great deal I got in 2014 was too good for them so they adjusted it the following year for me...

Yeah, but I'm not complaining since my rate works out to only $226 per year for a family of four. Just thought I'd mention reading the actually membership agreement and noting that they can up your rates down the road.

Remember you must activate the pass at the park by September 25th in order for you to get the gold benefits, including parking (Six Flags parks). Otherwise you will only have the regular pass that only included admission.

If I pay $40 and find a new scratch, I am getting my $100 and some odd dollars out of them. I hope their 5 & Dime selves have good insurance.
