There is only one problem with adding new slides. The park hardly even had the manpower to operate the waterpark this season. It seemed that every day, the waterpark managers were looking for associates in other departments to work in the waterpark (mostly for posting positions and grouping positions). They may need to do more recruiting for next season.''

EDIT: The reason is that the slides would have been in the way and they were hardly open (for the reason I stated above).

Boo Carowinds... Removing yet another ride for no real reason. At least none that I consider valid.

If more companies, Cedar Fair included, would stop paying their executives ridiculous amounts of money (read up on the Wells Fargo scandal, for example) and redistribute some of that wealth down the chain, they could afford to pay employees more than minimumish wages. Then people with families could work there and still make ends meet. They wouldn't continue to be short handed year after year while executives rake in 7+ figures in bonuses.

While I don't know off hand, I can almost guarantee that Dollywood pays significantly more than Cedar Fair - and they never have a shortage of people. In fact, you see some of the people working there year after year. Paying more tends to increase productivity, retain employees, reduces training costs, and improves customer service as people want to work there.

Fury 325 was added, we lost Thunder Road.
Blackbeards Revenge was added, Southern Sidewinder is going away. The new County Fair assuming that no rides are removed is likely meant to take up the slack that Thunder Road's removal caused. It could also be debated that Southern Sidewider's capacity was no longer needed due to 11 slides being added.

As far as what Carowinds pays their employees, jobs like Ride Operator are meant for people like Amos(sorry to use you for an example buddy) not people like me who have a family. Increasing the pay rate for low level employees would reduce profits for the park if it didn't lead to an increase in the costs to the end consumers(visitors). Carowinds isn't like Disneyland where the park is at capacity on a regular basis, capacity for Carowinds used to 50,000 visitors or more per fire code. The average Saturday was 18,000 visitors in 2006.

Here we go again, rehashing data from 2006. You do know 10 years have passed and attendance records are being broken yearly now. I doubt that can happen with those 2006 numbers.

2006 was relatively flat from 2005....
Attendance in 2005 was 2.14 million, attendance now is just above 2 million. Between 2006 and 2014 attendance as lower than 2 million.

Um, season passes have nearly doubled in price since Paramount owned the park. I bet a large portion of that increase has not gone to employees.

Maybe if they focused a bit less on getting cheap labor they would be able to fill all positions. I do have intimate knowledge of how business runs, profits, margins, revenue, ebitda, etc... As a shareholder, I also periodically review their *recent* SEC filings as required by law. They are not hurting for money.

I don't recall only paying $50 or for a season pass under Paramount. More like 75-85. Furthermore, Social Secuirty and Medicare taxes have increased in the last ten years in addition to costs of other costs of runnig the park(i.e. water, power, grease for the rides, parts for exsisting rides.)

And I will also note that these prices included all five Paramount Parks plus Gilroy Gardens. So by this flyer, passes are actually cheaper now than they were in 2003.
