Nope, I think the park used Goldrusher because the County Fair will go past Cobra.

One of the two slides is completely down, the other slide looks to be about half down.

They are being VERY deliberate about deconstructing that slide. They're definitely preserving it so it can be put back up somewhere (even if not at Carolina Harbor).

There are several places where they can relocate it. I hope they do. I think it would be used more if more prominently placed. It is a fun slide. It just wasn't in the flow of the park... kind of off to one side. (Kind of like the CURRENT County Fair is also off to one side and is almost like an afterthought... they need to do something about that too but that's probably fodder for another thread.)

What I was referring to is that while gold was first discovered in the U.S. in North Carolina, it was in the Piedmont region - with our clay soil and the large amounts of quartz in it. I'm not aware of there being a lot of gold found in the coastal plains, where the soil is very sandy.

Paying homage to the gold found in the Carolinas doesn't make much sense in a boardwalk area. However, it is appropriate for a ride in one of the county fairs to pay homage to it. That's where I was going with that thought...

Goldrusher wouldn't make anymore sense in a County Fair, None of the large traveling fairs are local to NC and none of them have a Mine Train coaster.

Goldrusher was originally located in the Frontier Outpost section which later became Blue Ridge Junction. I never did understand why they didn't move the entrance to RFD when Boardwalk came about but I will note that the sign has a Diesel locomotive on it and is implying some sort of passenger travel. I believe the Silver Meteor travels up and down the coastal plains on an old ACL/Seaboard line. So maybe the park was going to tie Goldrusher to that but decided not to.

New SCarowinds warehouse?
I thought Dark Harvest reused the exisditing building next to Thunder Road?

Furthermore if you are referring to the area behind Sand Dune Lagoon(Kookaburra Bay), why stick it back in an odd spot when it could fit in front of the wavepool or next to Whitewater Falls and be on a main walkway.
