General Carowinds discussion

I think it's funny that you're clapping about a ride being torn out (one that no one cared was removed) when you had a meltdown the last time they removed a ride.

I guess it's all you have to be...happy? about. The rest of us are out the actually riding to notice.

The slide was originally planned to be removed last season. I was told why they kept it, but I can't remember (I was told about it roughly 3 months ago), so my memory is a bit vague. But for continuity, they decided to paint it.

Hmm, maybe Slidewider was going to get the axe prior to decision to remove Thunder Road but when they decided to remove Thunder Road, they decided to put Blackbeard there instead to better space out the waterpark.

Even tho I'm over all the blues, oranges, yellows and reds already on the majority of coasters in the park, I am happy that Cobra's blue is almost a dark navy pigment like Cyclone was at one point. I was thinking they were going to just reuse the current blue paint color that is used on Cyclone now.

I find the reason "due to age" odd as they were the new slides added in 1997 where the oldest slides that have been there since riptide reef, just removed the run out and added a splash pool.

Also removed the raft/tube lift. Slide is question is the orange and white slides by Surfers Swell but I don't remember the name.

Well, this type of paint can be rather expensive.
Let's say that the red paint for Intimidator costs roughly $150 per gallon. Let's also say that it will need probably 1,600 gallons. The cost for paint alone would be around $240,000. That's just for the red paint. Then you have the light grey paint on the column supports, plus the man power and equipment needed (some of said equipment would be rented from nearby companies per usual).

Ok. Regardless of the cost... Painting should be budgeted as part of the upkeep of the coaster. It should be baked in. I hope they've already put the re-paint in the budget for Fury round about 2020. I'm almost embarrassed by the PINK intimidator. Fury my be the signature ride but Intimidator is the most forward facing. Its the first thing you see when you get to the park. What kind of image does that send? Paint the darn thing already.
