General Carowinds discussion
#91571
Does anyone know when the current licensing deal for "Intimidator" expires? I remember speculation about that last season when some merchandise was discounted. It could be that Carowinds might go with another color scheme and name if/when that deal runs out, or Carowinds might want to wait until after the licensing deal is renewed to repaint it. I believe the licensing belongs to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (Teresa Earnhardt) and she can be a tough business negotiator. She even threatened to sue one of Dale's sons recently for using his own last name in his business.

I hope they've already put the re-paint in the budget for Fury round about 2020. I'm almost embarrassed by the PINK intimidator. Fury my be the signature ride but Intimidator is the most forward facing. Its the first thing you see when you get to the park. What kind of image does that send? Paint the darn thing already.

Nothing is going to be baked into the budget that far out like that. Paint is typically baked into the parks yearly budget and they decide what rides need it on a case by case.

I'm sure it will get painted soon, Cedar Fair seeks to be in the habit of about every 5-7 years.

I believe the only time magnum at Cedar Point was ever repainted was in 2005 if that gives you a stance on Cedar Fair ride repainting. Raptor and Dragster just got rapainted this last season being early 90s and 00s rides. (and boy do they look great!)

Magnum was repainted after 2005. That was TTD's second repaint and Raptor has been painted since it was built as well.

Edit:actually I think it was 2005 when the repainted magnum orange.

Having said that, the current management has been painting coasters every 5-7 years.

I grabbed two pics about 20 minutes ago. The new blue paint really pops. Especially with the sunset. The pictures don't do it justice.

Yes I agree Intimidator needs painting worse than Cobra. It is front and center and plus Intimidator is more of a major attraction than Cobra.

Edit: Although looking at the pics above I do see that Cobra was overdue for a paint job as well. And the blue does look a lot better..
