General Carowinds discussion

The amount of infrastructure work going on is nuts. That looks like a whole new storm drain system being put in. If they paid a mil apiece for these rides, plus painting the coaster, plus all this work to install and theme the whole area, I bet we are near the $10 million mark.

^ I was thinking the same thing. I'm looking at the live feed like 'What is this big hole they're digging. I somewhat feel like they are getting a tad bit behind schedule because Zephyr nor the troika's pad haven't been lad yet. Who am I tho, they are the experts not me.

According to this the pads should have been poured. But I'm not expert either.

With so many details and new features to add this offseason, our construction teams are off to the races. Here’s how we expect our projects to flow this offseason.

October
• Concrete demolition begins for Rock ‘n’ Roller (next to Dockside Fries)
• Southern Sidewinder is removed to make room for Electro-Spin

November - December
• Concrete pads are created for new rides

January
• Rides will start being installed, starting with Rock ‘n’ Roller
• Area development projects including enhancements on Wings, Dockside Fries and restrooms

February
• Queue lines and finishes on the rides will go in place
• Theming work and area development continues

March
• Installation of all ride will be complete
• Ride testing and commissioning
• Opening Weekend

^ I was thinking the very same thing. I'm curious to know why there is so much groundwork for 4 simple flat rides. I am in the commercial building industry and I have never seen it take five months for footings and foundation work :wtf:
Yes, I am aware of the electrical and plumbing schematics as well as the demo of existing pavers, concrete e.t.c. but still!!

Two of them are not simple installations (kinda discussed this previously), two are. Then there's infrastructure. I really don't think they are far behind at all. One ride is being assembled. Three of these rides are put up by traveling carnivals in a day. Once the concrete work is done, things are gonna go faster. Pretty sure they've got it under control.

Also, keep in mind that Carowinds has demonstrated their ability to be forward thinking. While some work they are doing might not seem like it is needed, they have continued to hint that there are a lot more plans for Carowinds in the future.

Every area in the park they work on has included infrastructure improvements. While those improvements may not be needed immediately, it is more cost effective to do some of that work in conjunction with immediate projects in those areas rather than tear up the area a second time down the road.

I have no real insight into what is coming down the road, I am just piecing together little tidbits that I have gotten from park officials here and there.
