I was doing some Christmas shopping today and decided to try Carolina Pottery over there by the park. I haven't been in there in some time but I am glad I made the visit today.

I discovered at least 2 things that will surely make me go back. The first thing that caught my eye in the back of the store was a beautiful 11x14 (or larger) photo taken on board of our beloved Thunder Road.

It's hard to tell when the photo was taken but it is hanging on the back wall amongst other (non-Carowinds) framed photos. The Thunder Road photo has a nice black corrugated matt and a pine (or maple) frame which makes the total size of the frame and photo around 14"x18" (approx. inches). It was BEAUTIFUL and not cheap!

The price was marked down from $100.00 to $79.99. I thought that was a little steep but the matt and frame are very nice.

The other thing I saw near that dept. that I had never seen before was a do-it-yourself kiosk that will allow you to browse the Charlotte Observer photo archives and print poster size prints up to 4ft. high!! You can easily search the archives and there were 4 or 5 Carowinds photos on there. Two Thunder Road photos and a Carousel photo. I can't remember what the other 2 were right off.

Best of all, you can bring in your own photo CD or digital camera card and make your own poster prints. There was about 10 different sizes to choose from ranging from $7.00 to $35.00. The smallest size print available was 4"x6" and the largest was about 3'x4'.

So, for all you camera buffs out there, you can now leave the park with your digital camera photos, go across the street and make posters out of your favorite prints.
