General Carowinds discussion

The timing of removing White Water Falls is odd. It's currently not in the way of anything they are building for this season. Unless mechanically it cant run for another season the only pratical reason for removing it this early would be to do site prep on a larger project like they did removing the log flume early on to make way for The Intimidator.

Count me in the boat that is unhappy with the removal of white water falls. I mean, we didn't usually ride it much. Maybe we would ride it once or twice per year. But several more times per year I would walk up the exit and get cooled off. It was perfect to cool off without any standing around in line.

RRR, on the other hand, you gotta stand around for an hour in an incredibly slow moving line to get a wet butt. The rest of your body is still completely dry except for your uncomfortable dripping crotch. No thanks.

Carowinds you are removing the wrong water ride!

And what's this talk abour Rock-n-Roller not going backwards? WTF? How can an amusement park ruin a simple classic flat ride? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Spend a bunch of money to bring in a classic ride... only to lose 75% of the fun by running it incorrectly?

Maybe Cedar fair really isn't as good at this as they think they are. Running a flat ride, and making it fun, isn't rocket science. Carnival workers can figure out how to make the ride fun. It isn't hard to do.

I was really looking forward to two new flat rides, Top Scan and the Himalaya (wave swinger and troika are always kinda meh). Now, out of 4 additions, only one might be kinda fun? And the best water ride in the park is disappearing without notice. That's really disappointing. I wish that I hadn't been so quick to buy those season passes.

By all neans if you dont like the new additions, dont go.

As for WWL, is an old ride that costs a lot more in maintenance than its worth. Removing it now while tge have tge budget and machinery there makes perfect sense.

Coasterbruh, that is a spectacular log flume -- probably the best I've ever seen. That being said, when is Cedar Fair ever going to go with an Intamin flume ever again after the one at Cedar Point lasted -- five or six years and then was removed? One can hope, though.

I agree with Edwardo -- if you don't like County Fair in advance of it even being finished, then don't go. Not sure what the point of being here and bitching about it is. This is obviously a place for people interested and enthusiastic about what's coming. While I'm at it, White Water Falls was a one-trick pony of a ride. It's not a huge loss, particularly if something better is coming in its place in the next several years.

I'm sad only in the sense that this is now the third of four regular park water rides gone since CF took the helm - with no replacement water rides. I'm hoping that means that we are getting some kind of water-based ride (non-water park) in 2018, then. (Log flume - please? :) )

Regardless, that is just a hope but I am not boycotting the park or refusing to go... I'm sure they still have a lot in store for Carowinds in the future. We really haven't seen any ride removed in recent years that hasn't had something else replace the same plot of land.

I am happy about Whitewater being removed, this means when I do go ride that I don't have to ride multiple times in a row. I don't like getting soaked in Whitewater but always end up riding when multiple times because the ride is walk on and other people want to ride again.

I wasn't expecting Rock N Roller to go backwards, do any of the Cedar Fair parks or larger park run theirs backwards?

The one year I ain't fussing about a removal or addition...

"Third of four":
Third water ride removed by Cedar Fair of the four Carowinds had,
Powder Keg Flume, Saturator, and Whitewater. Rapids is still hanging on as the sole water ride.

I have my doubts that Carowinds will get another water ride since the waterpark has grown so large.

And here is one in a form y'all wouldn't like.

Wtf does any of those have to do with anything being discussed???

It sucks to see another ride go but to be honest, I'm not too crazy about water rides. If I want to get soaked, or even a little wet, I'll mosey on over to the Harbor. There's something about the feeling of my boxers and shorts drenched in dirty amusement park water than I'm not too crazy about.
#92279
Well, don't wear the boxers and you'll dry faster.

I for one would love to have a log flume to come back to the park. However, I would miss the wooded theme we had with the old one. Those ones out in the open just don't have the same appeal (i.e. the one at Family Kingdom). Maybe do something like Atlantis at Sea World Orlando and put part of it inside.

No matter what they add... coaster, flume, whatever... let's bring back some themeing.
