General Carowinds discussion

There is no way they would leave a major destination park with just 1 water ride for the dry side of the park. For 2018, I can see a Vortex transformation, along with a Log Flume. If not a long flume, maybe a splash battle/ or teacups water battle from Mack. I also don't see anything from the old count fair that needs to be removed. Dodgems, Southern Star, Boo Blast, Afterburner, and PVZ still hold it down. A retheme, along with a Yoyo replacement will be just fine. Also with all these new vacant spots, I can see another Scarowinds haunt building being built for another attraction. Anyway, it's exciting all of this speculation is occurring .

I (also) predict some wood rising on WWF spot with station being about where Thunder Road's was (as someone mentioned earlier) for 2018. Also Sand Dune Lagoon removed since it's pretty much off to the side anyway. Save the Vortex conversion for 2019.

maybe a Dive coaster where WWF was and have a splash down so people can have a option of getting wet while watching riders and flat rides in Thunder roads stations spot probably not a 2018 project but a 2019/2020 project

That should be a meme!

Six Flags went bankrupt and started installing Larson Loopers everywhere. Carowinds has added a coaster years in a row but never 2(or 3) in a season. I would be surprised if they even added a coaster and a waterslide at the same time.

Wasn't Slingshot built on a lease agreement with Funtime? Seems like another poster here told me that Funtime is leading the spot from Carowinds or Carowinds is leasing Slingshot. I may be way off.

I thought everyone was being nice and cordial? Sand dune lagoon still is popular and caters to the kids not big enough for the new play area but too big for the myrtle turtle and kitty hawk. Also, it's very self containing as its basically just a pool of water lol. I think the days of parks adding multi coasters are long gone, unless its a new park. I think the park realized that 5 new rides in one year was overkill as well. Do I think the next coaster would be a wooden coaster? Kinda. DO I think it will happen next year? My "think fast" answer is yes. several other parks in the chain have gotten major coasters 3 years apart from each other so it is feasible.

So far we have seen the front gate redone, thrill zone, half of the RFD, and the water park. If the entire park is in fact transforming I would think they would tackle on revitalizing planet snoopy next as it is one of the areas that hasn't gotten any real love since the paramount days (aside from the unavoidable theme change). Can I wait a two or three years for a new coaster/thrill ride . . . yes. Its other pressing issues they can address before a new coaster. I like well rounded parks myself . . .

I think it would be better that, if you were to add 2 coasters, to do it in subsequent years and not the same year. That way, you can maximize your marketing for attendance.

Most people who ride coasters overlap in their interests. Sure, you have some people who hate one coaster but love another but most overlap. So, if you introduce 2 coasters in one year, you're probably not going to get the attendance boost for that year any more than by introducing just 1 new coaster.

That's just how I see it.

Here's another thought...

Since we all know Mean Streak is getting RMC and it looks like Hurler will be getting the same treatment...

Would they or could they shift Mean Streak's budget to 2017?

I don't think Cedar Fair would add 3 new coasters in one year. But what if they used up let's say 75% of Mean Streak's for the 2017 fiscal year?

Also, Knott's Berry Farm is removing their Tornado Slide already.
May is still a long way away... Maybe they add the new slide to Carolina Harbor for this year?

Just my thoughts.

I would rather have Vortex conversion be 2019 so we can get a new woodie in 2018!

It is certainly getting better but there still remains occasional tension. I'm bringing it up because I got more feedback yesterday from people who don't come to the site anymore because of that.

I am determined to nip that completely so that everybody has a right to provide an opinion and have open discussions (that fit along with the site rules and regulations).

I'd just like to comment on that by saying, and this has been discussed by people that also don't post as much here, that it seems like some people are oft allowed to talk unrestrained out of their back sides, but other people who call out stupidity (I'm not talking about opinions, btw) are the ones blamed.

So know that there are people on both sides of that argument that don't post as much because some people talk just to hear their own voice and not much is said.

From my pov, I often see daft garbage allowed to fester, but once one or two of us say something, then it's time to moderate. Which is fine, I don't run the website. But there are quite a few that feel that it's lopsided around here and they don't post as much because of that.

Well, you often times have to consider the source of complaints as well. Some people look at things totally different than others. WHat they may deem "OMG internet drama" may very well be just a case of misunderstanding and trying to get a grasp and understanding of what someone is talking about. I haven't seen anyone be personally attacked, mocked or belittled. One thing I like about here is that it's not stiff. We can have fun with each other, we can say "WTF are you talking about" in a way where we know there is no ill intent behind it.

If someone lets one or two post make them not want to be a of this community, them maybe this isn't the community for them and there is a problem (them). Im just saying . . .

I agree I can see a log flume going there. Didn't Knotts just add Timber Mountain back in 2013? That's not that long ago. If not then dare a I say I throw back to antique car days?? :D

No, Timber Mountain is much older than that. Timber Mountain Log Ride opened in 1969, before Powder Keg Flume.

A quick Google search could have answered that lol. Haven't you been to Knotts before 2013 protein? It's hard to keep up with your escapades.
