Yes this is another one of those off-season topics written out of boredom but what the hey. A similar topic about this was in another forum a while back and I found it to be interesting.
In this thread, you categorize roller coaster companies with various vehicle makes and models in terms of smoothness, reliability, price, or whatever you wish based on your own personal experiences with cars vs. coasters.
I would classify B&M's with Cadillacs in that they both give ultra smooth rides and have very little downtime due to maintenance. I know B&M's are often referred to as Beemers, but I wouldn't know about that since I've never really ridden or driven one.
I say that Arrows are like Hondas. Everybody has one or has had one at one point. They also are reliable for the most part. The trains run quietly on the track just like a Honda engine runs quiet. To me Arrows have some of the cooler looking trains...and I think Hondas are some of the nicer looking cars on the roads. And just like people in generall say, they run forever.
To me, Vekomas are like the Dodges of roller coasters. My first car was a little white Dodge. It had good horsepower but it wasn't the smoothest car. The car constantly gave me problems until I finally decided to ditch it for a better one. Talk about unreliable. This scenario is similar to what happened to Stealth/Borg. It gave PGA so many problems that they ditched it in a sense. Then there's Deja Vu in Georgia that has been sitting idle for how long now?
In closing I would like to say that Intamins/Schwartzkopfs are like Volkswagons. I think they all look wierd although they may give good rides.
Opinions? Flames? Comments?
