General Carowinds discussion

Hi, this is my first time posting on here but I want to jump right in. I was at Carowinds very recently and noticed workers sizing the area where white water falls was. I think that that area is the perfect size for a 4d coaster, kinda like Batman: The ride or The Joker. What do you think?

Won't happen and for capacity's sake I hope it never does at Carowinds.

What do you mean capacity? With rides like ricochet and flying cobras, that coaster would fit right in. Have you ever waited in line for one? I've waited for 3 and capacity wasn't an issue.

Well now is the time that we need to keep our eyes on the lookout...

I was thinking that 2018 will be a coaster year but, with Knott's and Great America already starting construction, that won't happen.

Since Cedar Fair has already said they will add 4 new coasters. (GA, Knott's, KD & CP)

So, I think we will see a Vortex conversion, a new water slide tower & a expanded kids area.

That would be my guess.

I was at the park last week and noticed some flags in the field between Intimidators Gift Shop & Harmony Hall. Anyone else see them?

I noticed that, I feel like that is for Winterfest. There are also markers/stakes along the path under Nighthawk with labeling such as candy cane truss.

Joker at Great Adventure had a 60+ minute wait last year, and only 8 people fit on a single train. They're a blast but not practical for a park like what Carowinds is becoming.

Was that big horse statue made out of plastic?

If it's practical for a park that gets over 3 million visitors a year, why wouldn't it be practical for a park like carowinds? Same goes for skyrocket II coasters. If the park wants it, they will get it.

Six Flags doesn't seem to actually care about capacity (maybe even the opposite in order to sell more Flash Passes). Cedar Fair does. That's somewhat anecdotal but they've praised B&M repeatedly for that reason.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I would hate to see one of those things ever installed at Carowinds.

I went on Batman at SFFT on opening day without even realizing it, and I though the ride was a huge amount of fun! One ride I was stuck spinning for the entire middle section which caused me to burst out in hysterical laughter. I wouldn't mind if they had replaced Cobra with a similarly painted Freespin. Put the outside raven turn going out over the path where the cobra roll is now, and it would create a cool visual as well as a great backdrop for Country Fair.

Cobra is more rare than the S&S spin-y flippy coasters, rather than replace Cobra with a gimmick coaster that SFOG or SFA could get, keep Cobra and convert Vortex to a floorless. Other than Dominator it will be the only floorless in the South. SFA and SFoG are unlikely to convert their stand up coasters.

How is cobra more rare? There are at least 50 of them on existence. It's like the most common permeant installation in the world outside of mice.
