After seeing this '76 map of Carowinds, which CarowindsZone pointed out, It shows the park at one time had trams to/from the parking lot. I Had often wonderd why there was a paved loop infront of the ticket booths, so this answers why it was there.
Seeing that all of the surrounding parks have trams, (Busch Gardens, Dollywood, and SFOG will again in 2004) I think it would be a good idea for Carowinds to purchase some more. It would make it much easier and faster to get to and from your car, and would ease the load on your feet because you would not have to worry about that long walk back to your car at the end of the day.
Carowinds should purchase some trams that Chance offers:
