Anyone think that dogems could move to the vortex plaza to open up more space for a possible coaster in the guture? I hight doubt that it will move but I was just looking at google maps and a coaster wouldnt really fit well unless dogems goes bye bye from where it is..... I really think that a water park expansion makes sense where WWF once stood, but thats just me..... I am hearing a lot more rumblings about a vortex floorless conversion as well... I hope not. ... Wouldnt the station need to be longer anyway due to 6 cars vs 8

It would still be a 6 car train. The transfer track can't have anything longer than those. Even still... don't get your hopes up.

^^They can have a 6 car train. It doesn't have to be 8(or even 7). Dæmonen @ Tivoli Gardens has 6 cars per train.

I have no clue why but I have a feeling that Cobra is going to be getting a touch-up paint job next year because of a bunch of track-trails from the wheels of the car.

Ah I had never seen a floorless with only 6 cars. Just assumed 8 I guess haha. I dont want to see it converted, I think it wouldnt make it any better and would be a waste of money, as those trains are likely $1million at least. I think the money could be spent else where.... like paving the ENTIRE parking lot and making it easier to navigate with markings etc..... Maybe one day...

Carowinds isn't getting a coaster next year. I'd look more at 2019.

EDIT: Chance also makes Ferris Wheels...

I would even go as far as to say that Carowinds isn't getting a new coaster until around 2020. As of right now, I still don't think Vortex is getting the floorless treatment. If it did, I'm sure it would be a decent ride. In my opinion, either make it floorless or tear it down. There is no in-between.

You guys are speaking with great certainty concerning when and if a coaster is coming to the park. Opinion has been blurred as fact. I personally wouldn't be so sure of anything in the theme park world because as we saw with thunder road, anything can happen . . . Anything.

Yeah there sure is a lot of wrong speculation in her that seems to be presented a fact. Its almost august. You'll find out more soon enough.

Does anyone know if they have an announcement date? I wish they would do a teaser campaign like last year but if it's something like a Vortex conversion it might be kinda hard.

^Not saying it's going to happen, but last year California's Great America announced their Vortex was being converted on August 18th and the last day to operate was Sept 5th. It would give you an idea at least of possible announcement date for comparison if they indeed plan to make it floorless for next year.

Last few years it has been announced in the middle of August what they are going to do for the next year.

Vortex is not that bad of a ride. I'm sure it would be a better ride if it was converted. Was it true B&M was working on New Restraints for their existing standup's???? That would be just as good to me as long as their comfortable restraints. Also if the Carousel is moving out of Planet Snoopy, that is great. Every other park that has a Classic carousel, is not located in the kids section. Carowinds Carousel just happened to be a nice fit with its surroundings. After going to Dollywood, I wouldn't mind seeing more mist fans on walkways/sections. I also wouldn't mind seeing another show stage in the back of the park.

It's really not that bad. The G-Forces on the ride get really strong at some points and in my opinion will only get worse if they convert it.

I did see a lot of markings around the carousel but a lot were going to power grids so I was assuming it was possibly for winterfest planning as well... really no idea. Obviously the markings indicate where things are underground so it could mean anything. After seeing the Chance Rides guy there, it makes me curious as to what they were doing and if in face Carowinds/Cedar Fair will work with them for any rides next year or the next... I also agree that its probably unlikely we will get a new coaster next year, unless its something small in planet snoopy. I think it will be a planet snoopy expansion, removal of Dino's , new entrance to waterpark, and some general upgrades etc., which hopefully includes the parking lot! Hope to see some teasers, but if there arent any at this point, its probably nothing to major, which is fine they have done a lot the last couple of years so they may want to invest in some other parks next year.
