Dollywood 10-new County Fair rides

Situated between the park’s Village and Rivertown Junction areas, Dollywood’s Country Fair opened in 1993. It is home to the 60-foot Wonder Wheel Ferris wheel and a variety of popular amusement games. Several of the existing rides will be retired to make way for the new ride additions



Does this mean that the ferris wheel will be leaving too. It is no fair with out a wheel.

The Ferris Wheel, the Scrambler, and the Bumper Cars are staying.

The Tilt-a-Whirl, The Yo-Yo swings, The Convoy, the Mini-Planes, the circular Kiddie Cars, and those horrid upcharge Nascar Simulators are being removed.

And of course the Log Flume was demolished this past November. I was kind of disappointed with this decision because of the ride's long history at the park. It was constructed for the 1964 World's Fair and was moved to Goldrush Junction (One of Dollywood's predecessors) in 1968. This made it the oldest attraction at the park after the steam locomotives. (Not including the Antique Carousel that was at the park from 1990-1998) The log boats where supposedly sold to another park, so at least some part of the ride is still around.

I'll miss the Tilt-a-Whirl as well. It was pretty cool to have one of those in a major park, and Dollywood's had a pretty spiffy paint job as well.

Anyway, I'm excited about the new park-model Disko and the Chance Aviator. Both are unique rides that should make Dollywood more up-to-date in the flat ride department. The kiddie coaster is a good addition too.

I'm going to miss Swingamajg and the Tennesse Twister (tilt a whirl). I love riding them. The flume, well, I have only rode it once, but, it was okay. I like the one at PC better though!

I really use to like the one at Carowinds until they took that first dip out of it. Its still a good flume but not what it use to be. Then they Nick'ed it.....

You have to remember that Dollywood's log flume ride was one of the first ones constructed, which is why it was somewhat tamer than the ones that were built in the 70s

I think it was the 3rd or 4th flume Arrow built.

Tame, maybe but it got you wetter than the new ones!

That caroussel is .... gone? :( NOOOOOOOO!
I guess it's just been way too long since I've been to Dollywood.

That was my favorite caroussel in the world. Does anyone know where
there is another one where you can catch the rings?

No, there is still a Carousel at the park. It's just not the antique. It's a new fiber-glass one built by Chance in 1999. The park got tired of the maintenance the old antique required, so when the lease ran out on it in 1998 they didn't renew it. It was returned to it's owners in the north.

I was talking to one of the Log Flume operators at Dollywood this past summer and he told me that the original flume from the NY World's Fair was twice as long. Dollywood got only half of the original flume. The other half went to Branson's SDC (I think)....

Actually, the other part of the flume went to Bell's Amusement Park in Oklahoma, where it is still operating. Silver Dollar City has a unique in-house built flume that uses concrete channels.

Ahh.. thanks for clearing that up Duke. Now that I think of it, he did tell me Bell's.

Duke, do you know what DW did with their old flume? Was it destroyed or is it for sell?

Dollywoods flume is pretty fast. It is like a slide. Is the sidewinder the flume or are you talking about Daredevil.
