General Carowinds discussion

This is just me but there is way too much digging going on for it just to be at the clearing stage.....these massive holes and trenches are very interesting

Here's hoping they go back with some man-made hills and valleys, some water, and a TON of trees.

I not only hope so, but I believe there is a good chance. Mystic Timbers, RailBlazer, and to a lesser extent, Twisted Timbers, have all added more theming than we are used to seeing with CF. Can you imagine a ride at Carowinds with station theming, rockwork, trenches, any of that stuff? I’d be just as excited for it than the coaster itself. It would certainly make up for any quibbles we may have about the potential ride like length or spinning cars.

^You do realize that they have to dig up all of the plumbing and infrastructure, right? That was land set up for a pool and a splash Down pool. They have to clear all of that and backfill.

...and not all dirt is created equal. It's like when they repaved my street a couple of years ago. Even though the street had been there for 18 years, they ended up having to dig down 10 feet of our cul-de-sac, remove it all, and replace it with different dirt because what was there didn't meet the standards for compacting.

Since they are occasionally taking a load away from the hole, I'm quite certain it is exactly what Edwardo said - they are continuing to demo and remove utilities from what was there previously.

I remember hearing they found old footers for White Lightning when they were doing County Fair. I wonder what all they are finding now in this area?

I understand that the holes probably have nothing to do with the layout .....my whole thing was is that I don't think this clearing and grading is going to go on for a few more weeks ....I don't claim to know anything about construction but with them already bringing the contractors trailer on site today you would think that the next phase would be just around the corner

That's basically what this thread is already.

They mean Canada's Wonderland 2019 coaster status

To answer your question, clearing and grubbing is pretty much the first true part of the construction lifecycle, this project is full steam ahead. The trailers a good sign, the fact that they are already compacting soil in one area is a good sign, just because one part of the cut and fill process is hitting snags doesn’t mean the rest of construction will be hindered, time is money to them, so we may very well see increased activity on the site they’ve been dumping dirt onto while they do what they have to do at the WWF area.

PIT VIPER is a much better name than Copperhead Strike, IMHO. I hope the park's reading this... :lolno:

I can imagine the conversation right now.

"Y'all, we need to ditch this lame *** name that we spent thousands of dollars trademarking. I read a comment off of a forum and I think it's time for change."

tbh I do like Pit Viper way more than Copperhead Strike, but Copperhead Strike isn't bad. At least they didn't trademark some cliche name like "Train Launch" because it can ALWAYS be worse. Does anyone else here think Centurion was a better name than Fury 325 though? Just wondering not meaning to get off topic.

Cost for legal fees and registering a trademark is $1225. That’s pocket change to a multi million dollar corporation and their lawyers probably saved them the legal fees part.

Centurion was trademarked also but never used (yet).

Edit, but just for the record both Copperhead Strikes and Pit Viper would be good names for a coaster.
