Nope. Someone on here suggested it, that's all.

Even if it is Copperhead Strike, most people will probably shorten it up. While it's Fury 325, most everyone calls it Fury. Who knows, at this point it's a few months until we definitively know.

You're probably right, I never referred to Top Gun as Top Gun: The Jet Coaster, or Volcano as Volcano: The Blast Coaster. But as someone mentioned earlier, Copperhead alone just sounds bland, like Diamondback, but Copperhead Strike is different and sounds more like a thrilling launch coaster.

arby wrote:I don't like the Pit Viper name for a Carowinds coaster. Since the park has been working hard on revamping the whole park, and making more of the areas and key rides Carolina-centric, it doesn't seem to fit. With copperheads prevalent all over the Carolinas, it makes a lot more sense. Now if we were a Six Flags park, it could be something random like that...

It does depend on what the new area of the park will be named and where the entrance of this coaster is located. Flying Cobras fits well with the County Fair theme.

Just wanted to get my 2 cents in although everybody is entitled to their opinion.

You rather it be called "It's Amazing In Here"?

I'm gonna hijack this thread for a second and turn it into a wishlist thread (who am I kidding, when am I not doing that?), but I really REALLY hope that the old Carolina RFD section of Crossroads gets rethemed to the Lowcountry of South Carolina. I mean, that region is just perfect for a themed area with a haunted mansion, a coaster themed to a pit viper, and lots of buildings that already have rural architecture. I think it'd be nice if they could enhance it and turn it into Carowinds' version of Rivertown at KI.

^I would love that as well, TarHeel1231. A Low Country themed area would be great.

But Copperheads ARE Pit Vipers. So the Carolinas do have pit vipers...

I don't really care though. I was kidding when I suggested it. The name is important but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day as long as the ride is badass. And I have confidence this one will in fact be VERY badass!

No juicy details from the recent conference call, but there was an emphasis on the Charlotte market. If someone has access to the full transcript, there might be something in there about 2019.

"As we head into our core operating season, we remain enthusiastic about our plans, progress and potential - driven by our 2018 initiatives and the highly talented associates at our parks," said Zimmerman. "We have a solid line-up of new attractions for 2018, including four new world-class coasters and the continued investment in the growing market of Charlotte, North Carolina, with the expansion of our PEANUTS-themed children's area at Carowinds. In addition, we expect immersive, multi-week special events and unique culinary offerings to be key drivers of success at each of our parks in 2018."

In February, the Company announced that it had finalized a deal to build a 129-room SpringHill Suites hotel adjacent to Carowinds, which should come on line in late 2019. "We continue to pursue complementary development opportunities adjacent to our parks that will drive incremental attendance and create a consistent revenue stream. Along with the recent investments in the park, we expect the new Carowinds hotel to enhance the park's position as a multi-day destination in the same way the hotel investments have done at Cedar Point. And, we believe there are similar opportunities at our other properties," continued Zimmerman.

The Company also continues to extend the operating season at many of its parks into November and December with its new WinterFest holiday celebrations. With the introduction of WinterFest at Kings Dominion in 2018, more than half of Cedar Fair's amusement parks will be in operation in November and December. The Company continues to analyze the opportunity to bring this event to more parks in the future.

Zimmerman concluded by stating, "This is an exciting time for Cedar Fair as we prepare for our busiest time of the year and continue to execute on our strategies. While the majority of our operating season is still ahead of us, based on early-season trends and confidence in our business model, we believe we are well positioned to deliver another outstanding year in 2018. We remain confident in our ability to maintain the growth trajectory we have produced for the past several years, which supports our commitment to a steady 4% increase in our annual distribution rate going forward."

Again, not much information is given for 2019 other than the hotel, which is expected to open in late 2019. And with this being the amusement industry, I would expect "late" to mean around July/August.

We have a haunted house called Boo Blasters and all we need is a launched coaster called Boo Hag.

I like Copperhead Strike myself, sounds very thrilling. Pit Viper sounds plain like Flight Deck.

I think some on here believe the word Pit, from Pit Viper means underground. That is not the case. The word Pit is referencing the heat sensing organ between the snakes eye and nostril. Rattlesnakes, Copperheads and Water Moccasins are all Pit Vipers and all reside in the Carolinas.

I think that's fairly common knowledge.

But Pit Viper as a ride name would have a double meaning in this case since this coaster is rumored to have an underground portion.

Someone on here mentioned about ten pages back the current South Gate Entrance. A few years ago I was bored and decided to redesign it on the computer. I had put it away and kinda forgot about it until recently. Thoughts?

Ignore the compass in the middle XD. Not sure why I added it.
I redesigned it to look similar to North Gate. I also changed the parking lot (mainly to make it easier and safer to walk). I also added trees in the parking lot, however in South Carolina, it is not mandatory to add trees to brand new parking lots. In North Carolina, it is mandatory to add them when building new lots.
