General Carowinds discussion

re: your pics with blue circles:
What you see in the left circles you made is inlet protection for stormwater drains they have installed under the dirt. You see them on highway construction like this pic below. drain with gravel and a screen around it.

someone else said the things in the right blue circle are that. probably so. the things in the left blue circle are definitely that.

I think we’re gonna see some massive work on this project in the next few weeks. Once Carolina Harbor opens I’m going to go and see if I can get some better and more close up views of the construction. Also does anybody know where the flyers currently are? My guess is that they’re in the matinee shop.

The steel framework for the flyers are sitting under Fury’s drop. I’m guessing they’re not coming until 2019 after all. Seems like the park would have made an official announcement if Summer 2018 was the opening date.

lack of flyers + no new big ride this year was enough to nudge my visit to KD instead of Carowinds. Plus the RMC coaster at KD was a BLAST. Hope Carowinds eventually gets something like that, but hope this isn't it they're building now, that this is going to be a launch

Thursday, August 16 is National Roller Coaster Day this year. That's my guess for an announcement, though I'm holding out hope that the parks pulls a KI and does the announcement in late July. Also I really hope they make the announcement open to the public.

If they wait till August to announce something I think ee could see a lot of ground work and footers in place by then.....also can someone with a little more construction background than me explain the purpose for all the gravel put in on the one side closest to the old WWF entrance

I'm pretty sure its some type of Geotextile / Geogrid that's used to reinforce the sub-grade layer before putting the sub-base material down. The Vapor Barrier is placed just prior to placing concrete, and I still think this project is a ways away from full on concrete placement.

Well whatever that tarp is for it's getting buried in dirt.

Well as if we weren't already sure, that confirms a Crossroads refurbishment
